Jay has screwed up his hopesfall cover band even more. This news is a few weeks old now but realized no one had made a thread on here. Not only have they only had one member from the original band for a few years and 2 albums now(a non writing guitarist at that), but now Jay has kicked out ALL of the other 4 members of the band and invited new ones...and is keeping the name yet again.
4 new members who have ZERO connection to the band of high school friends that formed in charlotte in the late 90s and put out a few amazing albums (as if this band could get any farther from its roots right?). This just further proves my point that Jay has been riding the old hopesfall coat-tails since ryan parrish and the real band exited after TSY.
they should have dropped the name then, but it gave his new band easy exposure. they should have dropped it this time but once again somehow HE is the one with the rights to the band name and thus gets to keep the name and the contract to make new music again. ryan should have ended the band when he had a chance when he left (he had the copyrights to the name at that point i believe)

And to think .hopesfall. use to be one of my favorite bands. Oh and check this gem I found on wikipedia, "Although The Frailty of Words remains to this day the band's longest album, it has been out of print for many years and is no longer acknowledged by the band on its website". Wow, and that was my favorite album by them. Shitty ass music industry .

^^ yup! i use jamiecta as my regular aim name but my 'linked' name i still have up from HS is from frailty of words.
i didnt like the new album, but it was better than A-Types imo.
im still praying for a .hopesfall. reunion show in charlotte sometime with the original band (a la prayer for cleansing). 7/31/2007 1:29:08 PM |

man i loved their stage presence finding a few old school videos just revitalized those memories:
terrible camera/sound quality but THIS is one reason that old hopesfall blew the new band away:
http://www.youtube.com/v/vegkpuUSKqQ (live 'a new day'). those guys were ALL over the stage 7/31/2007 2:16:21 PM |

Amen to this thread. The older .hopesfall. was something amazing, and it saddens me to see how much has changed since The Frailty of Words, "Lament" is still one of my top 10 favorite songs ever. And though I feel like their A-Types-stuff isn't all that bad, I do agree that they should've changed names.

indeed. i wasnt really an a-types fan but it was decent. and same with magnetic north, just the principle of the thing :/
.hopesfall. was one of THE biggest inspirations in starting my band too. hard to pick a favorite song off of frailty of words. i love end of an era tho off of no wings...
hopesfall playing broken heart of a traitor live = amazing. loved the epic ending. ...the last time i saw hopesfall play was the night before i visited NC State's campus on an ME tour 5 years ago haha. they didnt play ONE song from frailty of words (jay was in the band at this point) during their set. thats when i knew .hopesfall. was dead. people were so pissed and didnt leave the main stage at tremont tho until they finally came back out and played broken heart of a triator (against jay's will it seemed like)..was in some ways a good song to end my live love affair with hopesfall with.
oh and PS:
i know ive posted this in several other threads too but the original members have all been a part of other projects since then (although the ones interested probably all know this already so sorry heh).
original bassist, Chris Kincaid (singing vocals on first album) - Laurelei and now One Amazin Kid' currently
ryan parrish - writing guitarist on first 3 cds. now in a band called "Celebrity"
Chad Waldrup - guitarist. recorded solo project "of sinking ships" that consisted of nothing but hopesfallish instrumentals. its a good listen, tho short

I'm from the Charlotte area and grew up on a shit-ton of hardcore/metal, and remember when the old hopesfall was around. I felt they were an excellent band, but I only recall digging a handfull of songs, however, end of an era was my favorite by far. 7/31/2007 6:58:27 PM |

I remember I saw them in Greensboro at Ace's Basement(is this venue even still around? lol) and they fucking rocked my socks off, this was before NCSU though so maybe 2004-2005? I still cant believe they are riding on the coat tails of the original band's name, it makes me so mad that people could hear hopesfall for the very first time and think that they are this shitty ass quasi-grunge band.... 8/1/2007 1:25:40 AM |
