So, we got home from work today and a good chunk of our ceiling has fallen down from a leak. Lucky for them, we had a laundry basket sitting on top of the washer where the ceiling fell down and it (and our nice work clothes) soaked up most of the disgusting water. We called at 5:00 and left a message on the maintenance line and have yet to hear from someone. They supposedly "fixed" this problem about a month ago when we noticed the brown stain on the ceiling. I swore they had just painted over it but they assured me it was fixed. I thought they were supposed to have the 24 hour maintenance but apparantly not. So WTF am I supposed to do?

if it's not still leaking then you won't see or hear anything from them until tomorrow.

that place blows....i was so glad to move out...there are bugs, ants, its kinda ghetto(low income families), the upstairs gets too hot, the electric bills are crazy, and the office sucks

the only thing it has going for it is the rent is cheap(and the raised the rates after i left)

i never had to call their 24 hr maintenence, but if their regular hr staff is any indication, you won't see em, especially not tonight.

take a LOT of pictures though, and if you have to get that shit professionally cleaned take the bill to the office.

if the bitches in the office are like they were when i was there, they're dumb and mean and try to act like they know what they're talkin about. so just cause a scene or toss out some random NC rental law crap and they'll give in.

My point was, it was still leaking at the time, they never called and checked to see. Our whole ceiling could have fallen in by now and nobody would do anything about it. Apparantly they don't have 24 hour maintenance anymore cause still nobody has called me. I don't hate the apartment, I love it. Its renovated, has beautiful hardwoods and new appliances. I just hate them and their maintenance who don't know what the hell they are doing. As of now, the top of the wall is also filled with water and bubbling, so now they will have to take care of the wall as well as the ceiling, as well as hire someone who can actually fix something.

^^ they renovated them slightly to draw suckers in. They are known for terrible management/living conditions. I have had tons of friends who have water heaters break above them and they don't do shit till they feel like it. Also, they put high power fans in to dry your shit off but you get charged to power them.

I could keep going about other issues but I won't.

^agree 100 percent....the new renovations are for suckers...what sucks is the company that owns them(trinity properties) bought kensington 3 days after i moved in, so now i'm back to shitty maintenance...my apartment flooded once and it took them over 24 hours to even respond

KP used to be the best place on Avent Ferry when I lived there.

So, yesterday they came and cut out the ceiling and wall, but said they would send a plumber to find the leak this morning. Nobody came. I called the office at 3, they said someone would come, but I guess since it is almost midnight, nobody is coming today. Now when we take a shower it just runs water all over the downstairs bathroom.

OH, and our air conditioning no longer works as well.

IT HAS BEEN A FABULOUS DAY AT GORMAN CROSSINGS.

Well we renewed our lease back in June (Didn't want to go through the moving process and nothing was really wrong with our apt then), so its not up until next May 31.

A/C is out now, they will try to blaim that shit on you somehow. They tried to do that to one of my friends because he hadn't replaced the filter in 2 months.

That was the worst night of my life! We just layed there and sweated all night long. I sure hope someone comes and fixes it today, I can't stand another day of this. I'm actually happy to be going to work today, at least there is air there!

^when the outside temp. is over 85, a/c is considered a necessity and it must be fixed regardless of the time. call the office again and tell them it's out. tell them that it's over 85 outside (to let them know you know about the law) and it's an emergency and if someone hasn't at least come to look at it within the hour you are contacting your attorney. you don't actually have to contact an attorney. it'll just help get the ball rolling.

I had the same thing happen to me when i lived there, my roommate tub was leaking because they failed to seal the tub properly, so after chunks of our ceiling started falling out, we finally got someone to come out there, and the dude just told my roommate to use his shower curtain better, and fixed the hole in our ceiling. About 2 months later, the same shit happened again, and my roommate yelled at them and told them to re-cualk the damn thing. And it slowed the leak down, but I could tell it was still leaking , cause the ceiling was turning that light brown color. Luckily we moved out before the ceiling fell again

Yeah well, for anyone who plans on moving to GC, be assured that they DEFINATELY do not have any 24-hour or any kind of emergency maintenance. I asked yesterday when I called about nobody coming and fixing the leak. This was before I know about the A/C problem. So, when you call and leave a message on their maintenance line, it says it will be checked the next business day at 8 AM.

yeah gorman crossings is owned by trinity properties, who also bought where i currently live(kensington park) at the beginning of 2007....i lived at GC all of 2006...when i lived there, there was never a 24 hour emergency maintenance, and where i currently live there is also not a 24 hour maintenance...dont know where you are getting this 24 hour maintenance idea from but it might not exist

He probably assumed they had 24 emergency maintenance because almost every apartment complex does. The list of emergencies is small (such as flooding water and when the temp in your apartment reaches 80 or above due to A/C failing).

Well, they replaced a knob in the tub, then drywalled the ceiling, but still not done. And I KNOW that is not where the leak was coming from, but whatever, hopefully it won't fall down again until after we move out. They still haven't come and painted or cleaned up anything. Every time they come, they leave white shit ALL OVER my apartment. It is disgusting and no matter how much I complain, nobody ever comes behind them and cleans it up.

I lived there for a year and those camel crickets were the worse. We had other various problems too and it was hard to ever get them to come out and fix exactly what was wrong. Thank goodness I moved.

how do you know that? are you a plumber? it sounds like they probably replaced a stem/cartridge, which was leaking past the valve body each time you turned the shower on.

I KNOW that was not where the leak was coming from because when they had the ceiling cut out, I could see that it was leaking from a connector between 2 pipes. My fiancees dad is a contractor and also looked at it and agreed that was the problem. All they had to do was seal it better probably, but instead, they fixed something that wasn't broken. When they came and fixed it, they left plaster all over the place and whatever those bumps they put on the ceiling are, they "accidentally" sprayed that all over the door and wall. I just hope it doesn't fall down again before I move out.
