$15 for a plug? Try learning to read directions, buy the cheap-o kit from a gas station and do the shit yourself 8/24/2007 10:33:03 PM |

It's more reliable, not knockin the pluggin but I'd trust it more, especially for a pricey tire. 8/25/2007 12:08:45 AM |

Yeah, fix-a-flat works great.
Use the whole can though, let some air out if need be not to over inflate, then drive for 10-15 mins at least so it spreads evenly.

then when fix-a-flat does NOT work like you say good luck finding a place to patch it. If the fix-a-flat works then great. Otherwise be prepared to buy a new tire. Yes, technically, you could patch a tire after fix-a-flat but it requires so much effort and cleaning nobody is going to do it for a reasonable price. Plus want to know a quick way to piss off a mechanic? Don't tell him there's fix-a-flat in your tire then watch him pop the bead 8/25/2007 1:53:48 AM |

Why does nobody trust plugs? I've never had a problem with them. Sure I'd be hesitant to run 150 mph on a plugged tire, but they seem to hold well otherwise. 8/25/2007 2:37:23 AM |

na just go to a "tire shop" and if its not "on" the sidewall. they will gauranty it to be the life of the tire when they patch it. i always do.. and i run a shop.. so you can fix a flat all you want.. i have seen fix a flat go forever. but its only ment untill you get the tire fixed8/25/2007 5:51:56 AM |

if you get plugs, make sure you get the thick kind. if you get the skinnier ones, they will leak.
ive tracked my car with a plug in it. they do hold up if you know how to install them, which im sure everyone could figure out.
and with fixaflat, when you spray it in, you gotta make sure you drive the car so the crap can spread inside the tire or else its gonna start shaking because they will dry up on one side 8/25/2007 9:30:37 AM |

I have plugged a lot of tires with good success. If you do it right, they'll work fine. Don't plug sidewalls, though. 8/25/2007 6:34:57 PM |

ahaha yeah dude, you're doing big things in life being the manager of a fucking QUICK LUBE. please. what's even more pathetic is you trying to pass the place off as yours. you're like that guy that takes his job way too seriously as the day time manager at mcdonalds.
for the original question, don't use fix a flat. it only works about 50% of the time, and you're putting a dangerously flammable/combustable product in there. a lot of reputable shops won't even touch a tire that's had fix a flat put in it. the ones that will mess with it charge you extra to clean it all out. just take the thing somewhere and have it patched properly. 8/26/2007 1:27:35 PM |

I ran over a nail, took it to the service station on Western across from campus, guy removed the nail, plugged the hole, put air in the tire. 5 minutes and $5 later I was on my way. Tire worked fine until I had to replace it a few oil changes later.
How much does fix-a-flat cost? 8/28/2007 10:26:29 AM |

if you put fix a flat, make sure you dont take it you "your" mechanic. they will hate you when all that crap gets all over the shop.

I plug my own tires and never have a problem with it before. As long as you know what your doing a plug will work just fine. You can buy a plug kit for like 8 bucks and it should have like 7 plug strips. 8/28/2007 1:46:01 PM |

Just take it to Discount tire, they'll do it for free.
Keep fix-a-flat in your car if you're on a trip or something. Otherwise, just get it patched. 8/28/2007 5:54:26 PM |
