"I have to say that they are really damn good and stand a chance to beat every team in NC this year(if they played all of us), but that is a ridiculous statement."

as other's have said, this is far from a ridiculous statement.
I've been saying since ~October last year that had we played App later in the season, they would have killed us. In 2006, App kept getting better, while we got worse. The trend of them getting better has obviously continued. The trend of us getting worse? well.... we'll see.

I also stand by my wish that App had beaten us last year, for their sake. One more loss wouldn't have hurt us any, really. But one more win for them would have given them a 15-0 season, and their current winning streak would reach back to November 2005 at 22-straight, since their loss to #6 LSU then.

(full disclosure: I am a Boonie)

How can they put a college in a dry county?

it's not dry, that was an exaggeration to make Boone/Watauga sound like a backwards, redneck town.
The city of Boone does not have liquor-by-the-drink, meaning no liquor at bars, but yes to beer and wine. And yet to bringing your own liquor in.
However, there is liquor by-the-drink 7 miles down the road in Blowing Rock. And there are no abnormal beer or wine rules in the town or county.

Just saw the replay on FSN, can someone tell me why the App coach elected to kick with 31 seconds left. yea, you have no TO's, the Qb shoudl have taken it under cetner , taken two steps back and to the right, kneeled, then spiked the ball with 3 seconds left. If Michigan uses a T.O. after the kneel down, then you're still better off, the App coach almost cost those kids dearly

Michigan called a TO with like 30 sec left. And why risk the qb or center messing up the snap and then let time run out?

Oh I dont know, maybe Michigan could possibly throw a bomb with their heisman candidate QB to their All American WR to set up a winning FG of their own! No, that could never happen! BTW, if a coach is afraid of a QB-center exchange, please clean out your office immediately. Kicking a 22 yarder on the far hash (and leaving half a minute on the clock) is far riskier than a QB-center exchange and kicking the game winning FG in the center of the field as time expires.

Michigan had 1 more TO after that so I guess App could have taken 2 knees and then they would have had to get lined up and spike the ball, kicking a field goal on 4th down with a few tics left. I guess the coach had a little sense and figured he'd go for the fg on 1st down in case of a botched snap, they'd have a chance to attempt a re-kick.

i guess if they botched the snap, recovered, got to the line, spiked it with a few ticks left, then yea, but that's a reach. But in no way shape or form shoudl the App coach have let Henne, manningham, hart, or Arrington on the field. I mean, Michigan did them a huge favor by calling the timeout when App got to the five, gave the app coach time to think about it

I also think that it wasn't rational to kick it from the hash with 30 to go. Kicking a FG from the hash and blocking a FG definitely had lower probabilities of success than getting the snap for a kneel.

I'm fairly certain that the App State coach was just spicing the game up so the movie could be more dramatic.

I guess he'd rather go ahead and put it in his kickers hands since he is the all time leading scorer in app state history. He obviously has a lot of faith in his special teams as he said in the interview.

that kicker prefers the hash. if mich blocks the kick or anything bad happens you still have time to get back together and spike it for another chance. That process would take a good 20 seconds though so this was the only time.

and btw if michigan does somehow get down the field it still doesn't matter because you can just block it again

"^^ I bet you made that up"

He didn't make it up but he had the details wrong. It was ASU coach, Jerry Moore, that made the comment. Here was the post detailing what was heard in the ESPN News coverage:
Quote :
"Sorry if this has been posted before but in Jerry Moore's press conference Sunday carried on ESPN News, a reporter asked him a question about the atmosphere and crowd at Michigan. His answer would make a State fan proud. Of course he said the crowd was huge but then he went on to say that when App. State played NC State last year "It was the loudest crowd he had ever heard". He went on to say that at State "The crowd is right down on you" unlike at Michigan . Even though we lost yesterday how can you not smile when you hear that radio call thay have been playing on ESPN News of the final moments of App State and Michigan.!"

you want to see a fucked up way to win (or lose) a game, maybe you'll recall App State vs. Furman, 2002.
With 12 seconds left, Furman scores to go up by 1 point. 12 seconds, up by 1, and Furman goes for 2.
App State intercepts the 2-point play, runs it all the way back (including a lateral) for 2 themselves, and win by 1

On an unrelated topic, who remembers that video of the team that was down by a lot and came back to lead and with 10 seconds left or something, they kick it off and the other team returns it. Someone posted it but I'm too lazy to look.

All I can think about is the commentator going "Oh no! Oh no! Not like this!"

Yea from what I've heard from the team is that Rauch is a better kicker from that hash, and they wanted to go ahead and not take any chances with a fumbled snap or anything that could possibly go wrong.

I think I would of preferred us playing Appalachian at their place this week as opposed to us playing a home game against Wofford. Yes, Im saying their place b/c they came to our place last time, and
it would be good for our guys to go and take out the "Rock's mystique" and break their home game winning percentage!

However Ill root for ASU until they play my squad in Raleigh!

LMAO what a terrible post.

Also, wow 10 years and the Big Ten is still absurdly overrated every year.
