This TV has only been used for a couple weeks.

Well, when I plug my xbox 360 into it, 1080p is one of the selectable options.

Update: I asked my room mate (who uses the tv much more than I do) about it, and he says he only sees the option up to 1080i on his 360 through hdmi. I saw 1080p through component. So I guess it does digital up in 1080i only, but does analog in 1080p.

1080p is not possible over component. You have to have HDMI to get 1080p. Also, the "Recommended Resolution" is 1366 x 768, meaning that anything you put on the screen is going to get up/down converted to that.

Alright guys, I guess I'm sorry I thought this tv could do 1080p since it was a selectable option on my 360. My bad. Anyways, if you aren't interested in buying it please don't post in the thread.

nobody is trying to keep you from selling your tv. we are just posting the facts about its display capabilities so an interested buyer knows what they are getting. what the xbox 360 outputs does not define what your tv can do. my xbox says i can output to 1080i, but the native resolution is 720p (just like yours) so thats the setting i use so there is no downconverting.

PS my previous comment was not directed towards your DirtyMonkey. I like that you cleared up the issue. I don't want to try to sell something I don't have. It was comments like these "ha ha ha, that tv is not good" that I didn't want in the thread.

Um... my XBox 360 outputs in 1080p over component and my 1080p native TV accepts the signal and identifies it as 1080p.

Component 1080i is the max that AACS will allow over component.




If I understand correctly, that means games will play in 1080p over component, but BluRay/HD-DVD will not.

Alright, let me clarify as I was a bit misinformed and unclear about 1080p over component. Here is an excerpt from an IGN article (that is a little old, but hopefully is accurate) that came out when Microsoft first mentioned output in 1080p:

So, LimpyNuts I guess your TV is one of the few (maybe 'few' isn't accurate anymore) that accept 1080p over component, but like GraniteBalls said you wouldn't be able to watch HD-DVD's on a 360 player over component.
