What brands are you loyal to?

OCZ - I just RMA'd my OCZ2N1066SR2GK (OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel), after 2 weeks of OCZ holding on to the RMA (it was ok b/c I had spare memory) I emailed them and posted on the support forums. As soon as they opened up today I get an email and they want to upgrade my memory (out of stock on my memory) and give me the OCZ2RPR11502GK (OCZ DDR2 PC2-9200 Reaper HPC Edition) instead (~$230).

Apple - When the 1st Gen ipod shuffle first came out I ordered one. Then I ordered a 2nd one to eBay. Well I decided against the ebay one so I called to cancel the order, they confirmed it was canceled. Well I end up getting two and getting charged for two. I called and told them I wanted to return the 2nd one so I wouldn't get charged and they told me to keep it and they would refund me the full price anyways (~$100).

The iPod shuffles are a joke. I can't believe Apple got people to buy them.

I know a few people that like it as a no-nonsense music player for working out and especially running since it weighs virtually nothing.

I contend that the shuffle is the best of the ipods.

I use mine much more than my ipod video.

I don't have much brand loyalty, but Apple is as close as it gets.
And Cisco gear, of course, but that's more a matter of corporate whoring than brand loyalty...

The only thing I'd say I'm brand loyal about are Thinkpads, although I'd have to do some research to see if they have gone downhill since the Lenovo buyout if I was looking for a new laptop.

Never had a problem with any piece of Linksys gear that I've installed or used, so I might have a small bit of loyalty to them too. It really has more to do with the fact that I've configured their products so many times with no failures that I don't care to spend any time learning anyone else's products.

"ASUS for motherboards"

I'm real iffy on ASUS motherboards after 2005. Of the 5 people I know who got A8N-SLI series motherboards, I'm the only one who hasn't had to replace theirs (I did have to replace the chipset fan however). I have one friend who in on his 5th ASUS replacement motherboard in a little less than 2 years. They still have great designs, but their manufacturing isn't what it used to be.

Sony TVs

My 3LCD projection TV is amazing to me, will never buy another brand of TV. Also, I hate just about everything else Sony, right down the PS2/3 controllers.

Apple DAPs

Beautiful design, great interface.

Canon point-and-shoot cameras

The SD200 has been the best all-around camera I could ever imagine. I'm close to upgrading, and it will 100% be another in the SD-series.

Dell laptops.

I've had tremendous luck w/ Dell lappies. If I get another laptop, it'll be a Dell or *maybe* an Apple.

What?

Man oh man, just wait until you realize that pretty much every TV Sony makes is better than the 3LCD projection. You're going to absolutely shit yourself.

^ I just spent all last weekend at CEDIA covering the show & looking at TVs most of us will never afford, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.

My TV looks fantastic.

I've had two MSI motherboards bite the dust. That said, the performance was outstanding before it all happened.

We have had very good luck at work with Dell and Amer.com both being pretty damn good about trying to make us happy and keep us that way. Plus Amer.com has a lifetime warranty on all of their equipment, so thats pretty great for us too.

I'm very glad you're happy with your TV. End of the day though, of all the Sony TVs -- the HD CRTs, the SXRDs, the Bravias -- the 3LCD is the worst product they make. Now that's not to say it's god awful, it's just not the highest end Sony TV by any means.

normally i don't stick to brands often since i tend to like to find the best price/perf item currently available. though after thinking about it, here's some:

abit mbs
antec cases
microsoft natural keyboards
logitech mice
T series thinkpads (can take a beating)

Brand loyalty only comes into play for me if I'm looking for a quick fix and don't know what the fuck.

IE: I need a cheap as receiver, I go to walmart, my choices are Sony or RCA.

well it turned into more of preferred brands, but what i meant was more or less what companies have done something to earn your loyalty (i.e., good customer service, perks, free stuff, good tech support, etc..)

Are you seriously bringing that?

I can promise you a 13" CRT isn't as good as a 50-inch plasma, amazing, huh? My TV is fantastic for the price I paid for it -- obviously I could've spent more and received a much superior TV, but for the dollar, I couldn't find a better set.

See how much more accurate qualifiers make statements?

Meanwhile, I honestly wasn't trying to slam your TV. It was more a comment to say "hey, as great as you think your Sony 3LCD is, just wait until you check out the other Sony TVs because it's only going to get better as you upgrade".

yeah the 3lcd may be cheap nobody is going to argue obvious fact but they really are the bottom barrel of their rear projection sets.

i would rather have a CRT from the early 2000's then a 3lcd.

sxrds arnt even expensive brother!

I'm gonna second the Sony TV loyalty. I got a small LCD TV/Monitor back in 2005 and that thing still operates and looks just as good as the day I bought it. I haven't even needed to replace the batteries in the remote. A few weeks ago the top of the chair smacked it right on the screen too and it didn't even flinch.

oh, and going beyond brand straight to a single product

Logitech Trackman Marble+

I find a trackball to be much better for everything I do...so nice to control everything with a flick of the thumb. Unfortunatley, they don't make that model anymore and the new trackballs are much smaller. I finally had to buy a new one this year after using my first one for 7+ years. Bought one on eBay for $70. New unopened ones go for well over $100 (and those are the non-USB ones).

i am unreasonably fixated on Fedora Core.

even though Ubuntu is widely agreed to be superior, i just cant leave Red Hat.

...

that and Mountain Dew are my only brand loyalties i can think of.
