Has any college ever done this as an effective strategy? I'm sure there has I just can't think of any examples. However, I think we should but Beck in for the long game, and as soon as we hit red zone, put Evans in. 9/10/2007 3:40:28 PM |

Lol, let Beck throw 6 30 yard passes a drive, 3 of those we complete and get us down to the 20
and yea Flordia seemed pretty succesful rotating QBs, I think it was a bit of different situation though...Since neither of our QBs can really run and neither are great throwing the ball... 9/10/2007 3:44:58 PM |

Florida did it a LOT more years ago with Danny Awfuel and Terry Dean, they were about 50/50 to 60/40 one year. Last year was more of a gimmick 9/10/2007 3:48:23 PM |

^^^^ ha ha and true
But really, there have been somewhat successful combinations of dual QB offenses, but the way Florida ran it last year was by far the most effective primarily because Tim Tebow is a fucking stud and built like a linebacker.
There have also been many dual QB situations that failed miserably. The most notable one in my mind also came out of UF when Spurrier kept rotating Doug Johnson and Jesse Palmer. UF was still good, but they had national championship talent.

I guess your math is accounting for the 15 yards worth of penalties (+/- 5 yards) we average on every drive.

Yeah but all of the opposing fans cheered when Curry got put in becuase they knew he'd throw an INT.
Durant was good. Curry... not so much9/11/2007 4:35:37 PM |

well imo curry just received piss poor coaching during his tenure, because there's no way he was as bad as he appeared. regardless, durant was more effective so curry should've been moved to WR or safety to maximize his athletic ability
but i digress from the thread. in general, rotating QB's is stupid and counterproductive

Michigan had some success with Tom Brady as starter and Drew Henson coming in when they needed more mobility. Michigan even would have Brady pretend like he was injured for a play or two and have Henson come in. Henson was more mobile and caused opposing defenses match up problems when they couldn't quickly sub in. I distinctly remember a game against Penn State where Michigan was lined up on one hash. Michigan brought Henson in to run a HB throw back to Henson all the way on the other side of the field and he ran for down the sideline like 20 or 30 yards. Henson also had a stronger arm than Brady, but just didn't have the experience at the time to be the full time starter. 9/11/2007 8:27:03 PM |

If we were to run a two QB system it would have to involve Russell Wilson. The main reason you would use a two QB system is to throw different looks at opposing defenses. Right now with Beck we have a pocket passing QB who has a strong arm, some mobility but won't really outrun LBs out in the space past the line of scrimmage if the pocket breaks down. With Wilson's speed, we could use him on QB draws, option plays with the RBs, or bootleg options where he has the option to pass to 2 or more WRs or tuck it an run if they are covered. The UF situation last year is usually the most common form of a two QB system, with one good passing QB and one good running QB. 9/11/2007 8:48:27 PM |

No, haven't you seen the highlight vids of Wilson? Wilson can flat out fly and avoid defenders when playing.

I don't make those kind of racial assumptions. While not blazing speed, he's still got more speed than a lot of QBs, and better speed than the rest of our QBs. Besides Liu Xiang, representing China in the most recent Olympics, won the 100 m hurdles. Stereotypes are stupid.9/11/2007 9:26:23 PM |

i always thought durant was a really good QB stuck on some shitty teams, i was suprised that he got no attention at all from pro scouts
curry was just a great athlete who became the default QB when there was no one else who could play the position effectively

curry was never considered by anyone to be a kickass quarterback
i'm pretty sure his career completion percentage at carolina was under 50%
he was just an awesome athlete, probably the best on the team, so it was pretty crucial that he touch the ball every play
that's why he was drafted in the seventh round, behind about 10 other more kickass quarterbacks
that's why he's a farily kickass wide receiver now9/12/2007 12:38:38 AM |

This is true. I doubt anyone who saw him play a series in college would have considered him a kickass quarterback. This is why I qualified my statement with the following
