A long shot, but since a few of you have been in Richmond, do you remember any proctors in the area? I've tried two community colleges and a public library but no one can proctor. I emailed deproctor at ncsu.edu to see if they had anything.

On another note, are high schools eligible to proctor exams? There's one right down the street...

Can't, or won't?

Basically, proctors just have to not be someone related to you/a peer, be willing to receive, administer, and mail back your exam. This is from the DE part of an online course I'm in now:

Quote :
"For those living outside North Carolina, you will need to find a suitable proctor who is not related to you in any way and who will agree to provide me with a confirmation on business letterhead that (s)he agrees to proctor the exams, return the completed exams promptly to the instructor, and will provide a secure testing environment. A suitable proctor is typically someone currently employed in a professional or managerial occupation and preferably a representative from a university, college, or school in an academic or administrative capacity."

It can't hurt to go up to someone at the high school and ask for someone to proctor it, but unless you have some tie to the school, they will probably say no.

The college's won't since I'm not a student, and the library I tried can't because they don't have enough staff. I got a response from the deproctor email and he asked if I tried the major universities in Richmond, which is a start I guess...

I tried University of Richmond but they won't do it, and then called VCU but their information hotline is bugged (push 6 and it hangs up after telling you to wait during the silence >_>

I told deproctor my issues and he said he might be able to work something out with my co-op coordinator.

a formal request from your professor, or other university person might work better than you asking yourself.

Also, what a bunch of worthless community college people. It's not that hard to proctor. Did you try the librarians at the community colleges?

that's just laziness on their part. I think I paid $15/hr for tests at uncw when I took my DE class.

My best lead so far has been calling the VCU library, I'll have an appointment with them to see if they can do it, I hear they usually do proctor though.

I was able to have one of my co-op mentors become a proctor for this quiz i have to take this week, but my professor is letting me take the quiz at State when I get there Friday.
