I'm shopping around for a digital camera to take with me to Ireland. I'll be there for 3 months, so it'll be mostly used for touristy pictures I guess, and random pictures of friends and shit. I know nothing about cameras or taking pictures, so I don't want anything too expensive or complicated. Ideally, something around $150-175. For instance, I was considering getting the Olympus FE-240, but saw mixed reviews online, so I'm not sure now. Any advice? 9/11/2007 6:32:32 PM |

There are a ton of review sites on the web.

http://www.dpreview.com is probably one of the best sites out there for camera reviews and comparison.
I'd recommend something small that you can stick in your pocket easily, like a Sony Cybershot. The nicer ones run around $300 though. You can probably pick up a W35 or something like that close to your price range. Sony uses good optics, even on most of their lower end cameras, and the UI is usually easy to navigate. Some people will bitch about proprietary Memory Sticks, but you can pick up a 1GB card for less than $20 if you shop around that will give you plenty of capacity. 9/12/2007 2:30:03 PM |

I love my Panasonic Lumix.
Coincidentally I just used it for the past three months in Ireland.
