How many of you guys are living in suburbia and participate on the other end of "trick or treat" (either as a parent or as a candy-giver)?

Got any cute/cool stories? Crazy experiences? What's the best candy to give out these days and what kind of costumes are in?

I give out apples with razor blades in them and loose cyanide-laced candy corn.

i dont live in suburbia, but halloween in the city is pretty cool. everyone sits out on their front steps and gives out candy to all the little kids coming around.

i dont really have any cool stories or anything, its just fun.

I was a candy-giver for the first time last halloween

nothing too crazy, but it was weird to be on the other end

is it kind of lame for the adults to be dressed up in elaborate costumes as they answer the door and give away their candy?

hell no..i may do that this year.

my dad is the talk of his neighborhood...he goes all out and puts on a big production (lights, sounds, costumes, etc). Some kids are too scared to even go up the driveway to get candy from him.

i've been carving pumpkins and giving out candy for 5 years now. it's fun. last year i was dressed up but only b/c i was going out later, and i'm in more of a kiddie area and had less kids than i did when i lived in south raleigh...oh well.

i want to do more pumpkins and decorations this year. when i was a kid i'd always decorate the stoop for halloween, and my dad had an awesome disney record from the haunted mansion ride that he would play. with the record sound it was even creepier.

we've been giving out candy for the past few years. The thing that is surprising the hell out of me is that we are living in the better section of a highly populated area, and we've had less than 20 trick-or-treaters come to the door each year over the past few years. Each year seems to be less and less. I don't see why we aren't seeing hundreds of kids.

For real. I turn off my lights to discourage those grubby-faced beggars. Get a job and buy your own candy, kid!

We had some kids come through Avent Ferry Complex once when I was there...they were even dressed up and they would mob you....they looked like poor kids...but geez....just because you have a plastic bag doesnt mean you get candy. One even said, "Is that all?"
