My computer keeps cutting off here at work for no reason at all at random times. Our IT guy is on vacation so not much I can figure out on my end. Does anyone know why this may be happening or a solution to this issue. Usually does it about 3 or 4 times a day and cuts off the monitors and cpu then boots back up to the login screen.

Do you have problems with your electrical service where you work? Everyone here is behind a UPS because of all the problems we've had.

Left Click "Manage"
Double Click "Event Viewer"
Browse for red X's and give us the info on them.

Not a dumb question at all. We did at one point but it was fixed or so we thought but the others in my office have no issues so maybe i will check my surge protector and our aps as well.

i'll suggest the same i did in theDuke866's thread...disable auto-restart and when the blue screen of death comes up, check to see if a particular file is causing the crash

and you need a larger picture

most of the erros say side by side but i didn't know if that was because i was running two monitors and another error source says w32time, dcom, application hang, userenv, autoenrollment

Boot into safe mode and start removing spyware.




I assume you have enough priviledges on that machine to do so, since you pwnted it in the first place.




Spyware removal threads are a dime a dozen on here.

^Yes I figured after I wrote that this response would have come sooner. I am running spyware tool on the cpu right now and hopefully this will help solve any issues.

You definitely have spyware. The question is whether it's the culprit here.






And your IT guy should be working to prevent this shit. If he's worth a damn, he'll have an image of your HDD somewhere, since he doesn't have a system in place to prevent it in the first place.

It could be overheating. There could be dust collecting inside the cpu. I had an issue with computer restarting randomly, and i took a bottle of compressed air, and sprayed all the dust out (the dust retains heat inside the cpu), and it started being fine again.

Update:

AD-ware SE found all sorts of stuff but says it was able to remove most of it.

Computer still contd. to cut-off after this.

Plugged computer directly into wall to bypass what maybe faulty surge protector and still cuts off.

Checked for dust inside and nothing is abnormal.

My thinking tells me it is something electrical within the computer itself.

I don't think that an electrical problem would fill up your even log like you are seeing. At the very least you have a spyware problem and an electrical problem.

Have you tried to run Adaware (and other removal tools) in safe mode?

double click on the DCOM and W32Time entries and tell us what the event codes are... they should be in hex, like 0x00000001

Booted In Safe Mode and was going to run adware and computer suddenly cut off but this time it hung on a blue screen and said the following:

Ended up being bad motherboard due to some resistors on there that had gone bad.
