Who would you take and why?
My Choice: Jose Reyes, he's perfect to build a team around...the perfect leadoff hitter, nasty glove, nasty arm and he's probably the quickest/fastest player in the game, he plays at a different level. i love teams that run and he does it better than anybody. 9/13/2007 1:54:48 AM |

i'd let you take jose reyes and then I would laugh at you when I got Hanley Ramirez in the second round
with that said I would take AROD first...assuming I had the bankroll of the Yankees 9/13/2007 7:14:12 AM |

I always take A-Rod first overall. Five-tool player just like Reyes, but with more power numbers. 9/13/2007 8:43:52 AM |

Probably Urlacher, at least if I was running a 4-3. 9/13/2007 9:06:05 AM |

I'd probably take Francisco Liriano if he wasnt hurt. So, instead I'll have to go with Justin Verlander.

not when you look at his across-the-board decline this year and realize he's actually probably in his early thirties9/13/2007 10:34:19 AM |

i read the title and first thought that came to me was, "why would they have a draft for just middle linebackers".
i got that pigskin on the brain. 9/13/2007 11:04:38 AM |

I know it does look like it, but I pray to God that Pujols is only 27 and not older.
But really they haven't declined that much. He is hitting .320 with 30 HRs and 88 RBIs. Plus before Ankiel got going, they didn't have anyone else hitting at all to protect him.9/13/2007 11:29:36 AM |

I would probably take Sizemore or Reyes... Reyes only over Hanley because of his defense and attitude. Ramirez is going to be a corner OFer eventually and the production Reyes gives out of the leadoff spot and the gold glove defense he gives at the most important infield position far outweighs any added offensive potential Hanley might have. 9/13/2007 11:42:28 AM |

If I was trying to build a team, I would go after young starting pitching. Probably Santana, but guys like Verlander, Hamels, Bedard, Haren, Hughes, Gallardo, Linecum, Weaver, Felix, etc would be my targets.
Finding hitters would be easy later in the draft although guys like Utley or Reyes are hard to find.
