So Ive had this laptop battery for about 2.5yrs now, and it doesn't hold charge for over an hour now and its getting kind of annoying.
My question is, that when buying a replacement, does it matter if I get a generic company batter as opposed to a HP battery?
Secondly, Ive been looking at getting a 12cell instead of a 6cell, is there any difference in size of the batteries?
Thanks in advance tdub 9/13/2007 10:23:47 AM |

thanks for the link and all, but that thread did not answer either of my questions
I know I can get it from eBay, and I know that my battery is currently a 4400mah, 6cell and I was thinking of bumping up to a 8800mah 12 cell.
So my questions again, anybody have experience with non-OEM batteries? Should I expect a difference in the size of a battery thats a higher capacity? 9/13/2007 5:59:43 PM |

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine with a non-OEM battery, since OEM batteries cost more than most older laptops are worth, so the replacement cost exceeds laptop value (a problem with my 2004 Toshiba). The 12 cell will definitely be an improvement over the 6 cell and is well worth paying for. The size shouldn't be a factor, but it might increase the weight.
