I got a $100 best buy gift card and I'll trade someone $100 for it since I can't redeem the card for cash. I don't really shop at best buy and would rather use the money to pay rent.

How is this of any benefit for whoever would want the card? They might as well go to Best Buy and drop a hundred bucks. It would save them the trouble of having to get the card from you. You might want to knock at least $5 off of your asking price to make it worth their while.

that's ridiculous. everyone shops at best buy, unless you are poor. And poor people don't have $100 gift certificates to best buy. Obv a scam.

1) I'm only asking for the slim to none chance that there's someone on here about to drop $100 anyways at Best Buy and just trading $100 for $100.

2) I don't see what your concern is over time/gas. I can either bring you the card or meet you somewhere on campus after you get out of class. You don't have to do anything, lazy ass.

3) I'm a college student, your "poor" statement is irrelevant here. I'd rather use the money for rent.

4) I'm just throwing this out there to see if I could get a trade; I can get by without the $100 and if anything I could hold on to this forever because there is not an expiration date on the card.

best you can hope for is $85 or so

and even then the buyer should require that you meet them at best buy at the time of purchase...which is a pain in the ass for them

you'd be better off standing outside best buy, looking for someone who is about to buy something. or better yet go inside and find someone who is standing in line to buy some expensive stuff

^aw yeah, playing games is much better than paying rent...

but what the seller means is that you'll also get a nice piece of plastic along with $100 credit if you're going to use it at best buy anyways.

a really easy way to solve this problem is to trade it for a rent gift card.....

but seriously, i'd go about it this way:

ask if anyone wants to buy something at best buy for something that's worth at least $100. Tell them that you'll buy it for them, and they pay the amount shown on the receipt. That way, you get $100 out of that card and people want to do it if they're too lazy to go to best buy.

Or just meet in a computer lab, check the balance together, and make a deal.

^^^^^ winnar

it lets someone be lazy while you pick up their stuff for them. although for anything over $100 i think i'd want to see it in person before i buy it...

If someone buys it from you they are stuck with it...meaning if they return whatever they bought with it, it goes back on the card.

The last time I bought anything at BB was in January: two Wiis.

Before that, I can't remember. BB is a portal to hell, and I avoid them like the plague. I'm not the only one.

Couldn't the OP just purchase something from Best Buy and then return it for a cash refund?

seriously the only way you will get a full 100 is if you go to best buy, stand at the registers and wait for someone paying "cash" for something at least a 100.

however you look at it, show a little class and just take the highest serious bid here and STFU!

Since you didn't pay for the $100 gift card, you can't see any reasonable offer as a loss.

^ I assume you haven't had an economics class.

It's a loss if he takes less than the fair market value for the card.

^^

1st, we don't do "fair market value" on thewolfweb

2nd, it's all about his "loss" being our gain

3rd, i am expecting any moment now a post (= made up story) from him saying how he sold the card for exactly what he wanted

what part of reasonable offer did you not understand. This is a $100 Gift Card NOT a $200,000 house he got for free and wants to sell for $50,000

...and this card has a monetary value of $100. This isn't some couch I'm selling. By letting it go for $10 less that's still a great deal. Hell you can order something online with the damn thing and not even travel to the store. This is basically someone paying less cash now for more cash, if they like shopping at BestBuy. They're getting $100 for $90.

Hell, someone could even paypal me the money and I'll give you the card id and security code on the phone. No travel expenses at all. Geeze, I was just being nice and seeing if I could get rid of the card if someone was going to buy something at the store anyways. I might as well just use the bloody thing.

sure it has a monetary value of $100, but as you can see, thats not the cash value. And screw fair market value

there is nothing nice about your offer. You want the cash and hope that somone out there would give you the full value of it. Its not like your giving it away or doing somone a favor. This is to your benifit and yours alone. If you arn't going to try to sell it at some sort of a discount the individual is better off not having to deal with you and buying it themselves. Or getting DNL to do it.

Quote :

take the 85 or 90 and both wins. You can't really expect somone to accept an offer where the only person who profits is not them
