I've got a 93 Celica that's in absurdly good condition (minus a mirror install on the driver's side)

...except the front transmission seal is shot

Should I be counting myself lucky to get $150, or is $600 more reasonable? I'm just gonna throw it up on craigslist. I need it gone, but not necessarily ASAP

...and the high end of what to expect is? I need some sort of numerical starting point. Whether that's what I can expect to get, what to list at, or what the car is worth right now - any of those is fine. A conceptual description of what to list my car for isn't too much help.

Also, I got new tires at the end of January, and the car died at the end of May.

^^pics of the car:

paint damage. There's a small dent.

Bent mirror mount. story

id list it at $1000, its craigslist, my friend sold his 93 sentra on there for 1100 in much worse condition with over 200k miles... no harm in trying for more if you're not in a hurry

get you or your man to fix that mirror and you can add some $$ to your price.

also go get something to buff out that mark on the door.. cant tell how bad it is, but turtle wax sells this rubbing compound, comes in a little cylindrical container (red in color) and they sell it at autozone/advance auto parts. it works well with paint on paint rubs and stuff.

and def. wash it and get it detailed for like $40. it could up your price a bit

Oh, I intend to do that.

The mirror... I dunno. It just doesn't seem like something I or my bf can do. (If anyone here wants to, for some money, housekeeping, food, or other barter, I'm game).

^^thanks.

im assuming that is a celica st?

i know my celicas 1.6 liter FTW

Yeah, ST.

As for the tranny - once you factor in labor and the tranny itself...I really can buy a new car for that, or less. I am quite fond of Bobo, and don't wanna let her go, but I'm going to let finances guide this decision.

I just had a guy knock on my door, asking about this car.

Said he'd come by to look at a car of my neighbor's (very plausible: my neighbor owns a car audio shop on south saunders; it's worth nothing that I also live in Garner, so this isn't someone who just happened by a student complex, and we're not along a main road), and saw my Celica without tags.

Wanted to know what's the least I'd part with it for. Gave me his name and number.
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_can_you_find_out_the_salvage_value_of_a_totalled_car

KBB puts the value of the car at 2810 (if you ignore the transmission and the door damage) and 2335 for fair (ignoring tranny, considering door) Avg those, and 30% of that is $771. Is that at all in a reasonable neighborhood?

No, I haven't sold it. Yes, I know I need to

yep, i'd say that's pretty dead on. 600-800 should be fair imo.

your leaps and bounds ahead of most girls (and a lot of guys too) to have actually done some accurate research.

He agreed to $700 on the phone, and said if I had it after the first of the year, he'd take it. Said he needed to move some money around :-\
