I didn't notice until just now that Zap2It stopped providing free guide data online (my advanced data just ran out). What the hell do I do now?!1 9/18/2007 11:49:27 PM |

That's a good question. I'd like to know as well....
They want you to buy a subscription to SchedulesDirect, which it turned into. 9/19/2007 12:00:37 AM |

Zap2It, does not have any financial interest in SchedulesDirect. Some OpenSource buffs got together and purchased a huge volume license to another company's guide data, which they reformat and redistribute under the license at cost. As more users subscribe, the price drops. I'd like to see it go down to < $10/yr. 9/19/2007 12:31:53 AM |

I have been using mythtv since 2005 and have loved it. But this change over has had my box turned off since my schedules ran out. My question is do you think this is the death of "free" hombrew dvr service? Could there possibly be a free spinoff of zap2it, and/or SD going advertising based. Because to be honest I loved having it but getting a tivo might cost more, but would be easier in the long run. 9/19/2007 1:17:37 AM |

The goal of SchedulesDirect is to provide this service at less than $2/month. While that's pretty expensive for effectivly an electronic subscription to TV Guide, it's more reliable than scrapers. 9/19/2007 5:39:42 PM |

there is a screenscraper that works and then you use mythfilldatabase to import the xml it creates: http://zap2xml.110mb.com/

I was getting ready to create MythTV/Ubuntu box. I really just want a way to record shows from over the air HD. Is this possible?
Any recommendations? I've been trying to do research online but most of the articles I find are over a year old. 12/12/2007 11:57:07 AM |

I can't answer your question and it seems not many people on here are still using mythtv. I used to get my copy of mythtv from http://www.mysettopbox.tv/ it has a great forum that helped me many times. Best of luck. 12/13/2007 10:19:13 PM |
