my laptop takes too long to go into hibernate. It used to take <10 seconds. Now, it takes like 2+ minutes. It still comes back after hibernate in like 4 secs. I don't have any programs running when I do it, and I'm not doing anything different than i was a few months ago when it took <10 secs. what can I do to decrease time to hibernate?

Hibernate dumps your RAM to the HD.
So if for any reason you have more RAM and/or are using more RAM since you first got your computer (installing ANY program will cause this since) it'll take longer. 9/27/2007 2:25:49 AM |

Can use standby instead if 1) you stay plugged in or 2) you don't expect to lose power on the system by the time you need to power back up 9/27/2007 7:08:35 AM |

Misbehaving or malicious processes could be delaying hibernation. I'd suggest running some of the following programs:
Spybot Search and Destroy Hijack This Adaware
Limiting the ammount of legitimate though useless background processes may also help. Also, how much hard disk space do you have left and have you ever defragged it (probably not the cause though.) IF you don't have enough free disk space to dump the RAM contents that could be part of your problem. 9/27/2007 8:40:37 AM |
