You guys should have known this was coming. Thank the "credit crunch" and resulting interest rate drop.

Vanguard Prime Money Market is still at 5.06%, but I expect it will be stepping down gradually as well.

Only limitation to liquidity is that they ask that you not write checks for less than $250. There is not a minimum for ACH transfers, so I fail to see how it's different from any of these high-yield savings accounts. Where do you think they invest your money? May as well go with the lowest expense ratio.

FDIC-insured savings account = more liquid
money market = not as liquid

Insurance has nothing to do with liquidity. It has to do with you sleeping better at night. I can access my funds just as fast by ACH transfer, or even faster by writing a check when applicable. Now explain how Emigrant Direct is more liquid.
