build your own pedal board, commercial ones are WAY overpriced.

where can i buy a power supply for pedals? The ones I find only have 1 port on they and that's not going to cut it. I think there are 5 pedals that are going to need power. 10/2/2007 3:30:36 PM |

youre joking right? I use one power supply (a normal pedal power supply) whether im using 1 pedal or 5. You have at least 2 options that allow you to use just 1 power supply for multiple pedals. The first is using a daisy chain where each successive pedal is plugged into the power-out of the previous pedal (if available).
The second method that I use and have never had any problem with is a branch extender that the power supply plugs into that has 8 'branches' of power supply male ends coming out that plug directly into the pedals you need. It cost me like 9.99 4 years ago and I still use it for constant practice and gigging and have never had any problem with it and have had 3 different brands of pedals running off of the Boss power.
In order to buy an over the counter pedalboard that is decent youre looking at like 200 bucks new probably when you can build one out of painted plywood or scrap plastic for dirt cheap. Can make some really nice ones with a closing lid and hinges, extension cord and everything if you want as well.

another update:
this is very similar to what some of my friends have done:
http://www.dolphinstreet.com/guitar_pedals/pedal_board/
they were already using all the cords and power supply with a board so their only cost was a suitcase/other case(one friend used an old hard laptop case) and any other materials you want to use. theres a million different ways to do it. All as effective as a pedalboard costing a LOT more than it would cost you to make it. Hope this helps. 10/2/2007 5:38:55 PM |
