you know, i bet these guys doing this swindle are actually doing pretty good. sounds like they have been around forever. it doesn't sound like too many people up here are falling for it, but i'm sure a bunch of people are. say the guy sells 5 sets a week, makes $300 on each sell (cause everyone is saying he is selling $100 speakers for $400)....thats close to $75000 a year. i mean, given up and down times, that ain't too shabby.

They got my former roommate....hahah. Six months ago they aproached me while I was getting cash out of a ATM machine on Capital a few years ago, "

Him: Hey man I know you want these speakers I have in the back of my van, they are extras
from a big money install in a mansion north of here. Ill let you have them for $300 cash

Me: No thanks I dont have any money, good luck.

Him: I know you have money I just saw you put a bunch in your pocket

Me: I also have a pistol in my pocket

They left

I saw the whole crew gassing up a few weeks ago off of Old Wake Forest across from Snoopy's. On the way in to grab a drink the girl comes over and says" you look like the kind of guy who would like a killer deal on a great set of home theater speakers. I responed with, Did you just call me a jew?

I think these dudes travel all over north carolina doing this. They pulled up to me at an atm in rockwell (2 hours away from raleigh) and tried the same shit. I told them that I wasnt a nigger that bought cheap shit and they asked me if I knew where to find them some weed. I said no and left.

Most people talk them down to $125-$150 from what I've seen. You've got to consider their cost as well. If they spend $75 on them then they are only making $50-$75 per sale and they have to pay for gas and maintenance on a pos van. I could see them doing several sales per day though. I don't think it would be too hard to find an idiot every hour or two.

^ It's not a couple of dudes. It is a nationwide ring of scammers. They pull this all over the country.

I got approached by a guy in durham at a gas station, pretending that he's lost. After I gave him the direction, he started asking me to buy some speakers. Btw, is this shit illegal tax-wise? You would think the IRS would have came down on their ass by now.

They may be paying taxes out of the money they make for all we know. It's a scam because of their misleading sales tactics.
