where i work, if you make a statement, it is required to be followed up with a reason as to why you feel this way.
i had it that way. but then i figured the voters would be all over some OSU nuts.
i had CAL before OSU but changed it.

because there has to be a spectacular reason for jumping places in the top five.. both cal and osu held their ground, osu shouldn't be rewarded for beating purdue who showed how shitty they are tonight 10/7/2007 12:39:19 AM |

true statement. but i still think the voters will put OSU above CAL where i personally feel CAL should be above OSU. id much rather see CAL above OSU...fuck OSU.

try that argument at the end of last year's season when michigan was steady at #2 but Florida played two more games and Michigan went idle... then they let Florida jump them10/7/2007 6:16:32 AM |

well I think that had more to do with the fact that Michigan already had their chance at tOSU. the college football regular season is actually their playoffs, a screwed up playoff but it still acts that way in a lot of people's mind since we have this BCS system. 10/7/2007 10:18:54 AM |

#1 USF - and to think, we beat them two years ago in a shitty bowl #2 BC - again, we beat them last year #3 Oklahoma - Red River winners, beat Mizzou... #4 Ohio State - they have one quality win so I hesitate here #5 South Carolina - they beat Carolina, I vote #6 Kentucky - just for a week, Florida is rested and mad #7 LSU - most likely will return to top 5 after this loss, just a hunch #8 VT - Duke was playing pretty good football, then they played the Hokies in Durham #9 Cal - Oregon State has played some pretty tough teams, and have a winning record... not a "bad loss" #10 USC - They won, they should keep their spot
Upon further review: I could go Arizona State at #9 or 10 because they've played some decent teams and are unbeaten
#12 Hawaii - unbeaten, but with this schedule I think State could be 7-0 and bowl eligible [Edited on October 14, 2007 at 5:23 AM. Reason : Sun Devils]

What does that have to do with anything unless you are ranking based on what MIGHT happen in the future? They've played 1 Big East game and it was against an inarguably Top 10 team in WVU...
but you're right about them not belonging at #1. They should be 3, behind Ohio State and Oklahoma.

Its gonna be a HUGE cluster fuck if no team goes undefeated. That is actually what I am hoping for just so the BCS gets totally screwed for the piece of shit it is.
USF is #2 in the AP
BC is #2 in the USA Today
Why is Oklahoma in the top 5? They are such overrated pieces of shit. They lost to an unranked Colorado team.
Kentucky also has one loss and has knocked off the #1 team and they are #8 and #13. Their one loss came to a ranked SC team.

Florida recruits + a great coach and staff continuity + lower standards academically initially (though as of last year, big east standards are equal to acc standards) = high ceiling.
Plus they got a QB that is tough, talented and quick..
No surprise they are #1 in the CPU polls. They have, BY FAR, the hardest schedule to this point, of the undefeated teams... 10/14/2007 7:04:08 PM |

C'mon dude.
For starters, Big East academic standards are FAR lower than the ACC. The Big East had a better APR, but that means NOTHING about academic standards for admitting athletes.
The Big East is overrated in a BAD way. Rutgers has a joke OOC schedule (and lost to UMD), WVU ain't all that good, UL is atrocious, Pitt got their shit pushed in by UVA, and Cincy is a flash in the pan. Yea, USF is a good team. But don't get too carried away. Theyre just the best team in the Big East. That win over Auburn is a bigger deal than that win over WVU. And USF shares that honor with Mississippi State.

I just realized that baring a collapse by South Carolina and UK, 5 out of 12 opponents on Tennessee's schedule are top 11 teams (when they played)
Florida Kentucky South Carolina Georgia Cal
then throw in Arkansas and Bama and potentially LSU in the SEC CG... brutal
