i have a geforce mx4000 pci. I'll let you know when I find it, but I don't know if you'd want to trade your 9600 for that.

triple check to make sure you 100% have a pci slot and not a pci-Express slot(have someone do it if your nub)

if you do have just a pci slot and your trying to put video in it....buy a new mobo ty tyx5

i installed windows for him, it's PCI not pci-e.
he has a dimension 3000 w/ integrated video, and 3 normal pci slots open.
he has a 512 of kingston value ram (pc3200/400mhz) atm, and needs another
to get him up to a gb.

CHAINTECH P-FX20 GeForce FX 5200 256MB 128-bit DDR PCI Video Card - Retail

this is about the best PCI video card you can get - they don't even MAKE pci video cards anymore.

this being said, the only PCI video card i still have laying around is a 32mb geforce2.

thats a pretty good card but newegg had some that were more expensive than that...i figured like going from pci to agp is an upgrade so some wolfwebber would want to trade

i heard a 256mb pci is slower than a 128mb agp...wish i had an agp slot

sell that one to some rube, and get a better computer, or get a different motherboard - if you want, get one that uses pci-e, and ddr2 - i have two sticks of 533mhz 256mb ddr2 you could get...then just get any bargain pci-e video card and you have a $exas computer....spend maybe 180 on mobo and video.

yep, PCI bus has WAY less bandwidth.

How do you have a new computer and it doesn't at least have an AGP slot? Is that like, new to you, but from 1999?

beware: Dell machines can be difficult to upgrade due to them having proprietary stuff in weird places. If you get a new mobo, you may well end up needing a new power supply as well. Though power supplies are fairly cheap.

Just an FYI.
