from the ceiling. I'm thinking a hook with an anchor but we couldn't find one at Home Depot that would support body weight or even had an anchor. The ceiling feels like thick wood but we can't see it since there's siding covering it.
Any ideas? 10/17/2007 12:19:42 PM

This is the first thing that comes to mind. Make sure it is screwed into a ceiling joist. This way you'll get two bolts going into the ceiling joist instead of just one. It would be better if you could span two joists though. They have them at Dicks Sporting Goods and there should be some weight limitations printed on the package.

Would that deadbolt hold a two hundred pounder?
Unfortunately it's a hommock we got in Costa Rica for ten bucks! But it was such a pain in the ass getting back into the states that I'm determined to hang it immediately. 10/17/2007 12:50:58 PM

Just remember that drywall and plaster are not load bearing constructs. 10/17/2007 12:57:42 PM

Look, you are going to bring down whatever that thing is anchored to as soon as you lay in the hammock 10/17/2007 12:58:51 PM

find the ceiling joists, predrill a 5/16" hole, screw in a 3/8"x2" lag eye bolt, and you could hang an elephant from it 10/17/2007 1:01:12 PM
