One of the better bits is my last day is Nov 2. The company I'm going to work for is unable to start anyone that Friday due to HR personnel not being present. They are paying me to take the day off on Friday and start Monday.

Heh, I don't think I could do that. I know there is no way in hell I'd get a good reference from my boss here anyway but I couldn't leave my clients stranded like that. I'd feel like an asshole.

one of my friends did this at smithfields:

'hey, i can't work here anymore, i have too much school work or whatever else to attend to'

'how much notice are you giving me?'

'about 5 minutes'

I did that at one job, but for coworkers instead of clients.

The boss went from being a garden variety asshole to being a Grade A asshole. I left for good 2 days after I gave two weeks notice, told my coworkers I was so sorry, and to take care.

Yea, its been interesting with my boss since I gave the notice. He completely ignores me which is awesome in my opinion. If it changes though I will bounce - new job said I can start anytime.
