I am looking for a source of discarded deep frier oil. Normally restaurants pay a company to take this stuff away but if it is the right type and everything I might be able to take it away for free and help them out.

Jack's on newburn ave. just dumps their old grease into a big ass container thats periodically emptied by waste industries, it's pretty much there for the taking.

ehhh the company pays the restaurants to take the oil not the other way around. I had some guy taking oil from the bar i manage and the owner got pissed because he stopped getting his check from the company that takes it! Although it is a minimal amount of money.

Even though it is waste oil I need to have an agreement with the management first.

Normally people pay to have it removed but there are cases where a group will pay for the oil (few cents per gallon) but that is not nearly as common.

a lot of places are also under contract, so they can't just give it out even if they wanted to.

i'd check asian places first, they supposedly have the best/cleanest wvo.

the owner of Jacks is an old dude named Sutton. The daytime manager is Craven and the Evening manager is Fred. I cant see any of them objecting to you taking it. Supposedly Thai restaurants have the cleanest oil, I'm pretty certain the stuff @ Jack's is gonna be pretty dirty.

The majority of restaurants are paying to have it removed. The key is to approach smallish restaurants and offer to remove it for free on a set schedule. Nobody is going to deal with you if you just come get it when you need it. They need someone who is reliable because if you don't take it before they reach capacity their business will suffer.

Most of the bigger restaurants (Bojangles, McDonalds, etc.) are paying to have it removed by a company that then sells it to the big hog farms in eastern NC. You'll never get a contract with one of them although it seems like it would be in their best interest to do so. Sounds like a sweet deal for the company involved. They get paid to take it and then they get paid to provide it.

Indeed. I plan to pick it up on a pre-arrange schedule. I have a continuous need for it so it is to the mutual benefit of both myself and the restaurant.
