installing RAM is a man thing?
strange how that crew of hooligans at Best Buy isn't called The Man Squad.
^that tells me how to replace my RAM. . .I am adding memory.

to add memory, you'll need an extra ram slot
you can see for yourself when you open yours up. if you dont have an extra slot, you'll have to replace the old ram with a higher ram chip

^haha what? save the 20 seconds dxdiag takes to load up
Right-click on My Computer > Properties it's on the General tab at the bottom. and this way takes 2 seconds 10/27/2007 2:48:56 PM

actually, it's pretty simple. You think of how much RAM you had. Then you think of how much RAM you just bought. Then you add those two numbers together. Einstein 10/27/2007 4:35:18 PM

Cute ass nerdy girls already know how to install their own ram! Teaching someone to install their own video card is hot. I learned how to do that a couple months ago ![](images/beatup.gif) 10/27/2007 4:42:32 PM

you wanted to see a quantity? what, was the amount that popped up on your screen when you turned on your computer not good enough for you? Seriously, no girl would ever come to you for computer help if you have to ask such a stupid question 10/27/2007 5:24:00 PM

unless he built the computer himself, of which i'd say theres a 0% chance, there's a great probability that the POST test is hidden by some corporate logo. and even if it isn't, if he wasn't looking for it he could have missed it. why reboot the computer.

the point is that he is asking a stupid fucking question. Hell, he even asked how to install RAM. He's an English major, can he not RTFM? And then he comes in here celebrating that he did a simple task... Nothing douche about calling a fucktard a fucktard 10/27/2007 6:20:08 PM

stfu burro. it was very clear that he was asking the question in the context of verifying he installed the RAM correctly. 10/27/2007 6:23:45 PM

i love people who antagonize for the sheer sake of antagonizing.
that's got to be fulfilling.
and, really:

I've never noticed such a prompt, because I've never looked for it.
::obligatory make fun of the dude who doesn't visually note every phase of a boot-up.

press teh 'windows start key' and the 'pause|break' key at the same time, to see your system properties.
or!
right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties' for the same screen - it should look like this:
