I need an 8x10 from one of my digital photos. Where can I get the best quality print? I'm fine with local (Wolf Camera?) or internet, but I do want the best quality I can get at a reasonable price.

The print is going to be a 8x10. The final "edited" photo was shrunk to exactly 8x10 after cropping and whatnot. Is there any benefit to sending them a larger than 8x10 print (i.e. after cropping, editing contrast/color levels, etc.; but before shrinking the canvas size to 8x10?)

What DPI is your "8x10" file saved at? I would bother with anything very high quality unless your images has a pixel size of 2400x3000 (7.2MP).

Wolfcamera will do a goob job, so will target... basicly anyone with a digital photo processing center.

I think I figured out the answer. I'll be printing from a 1434x1806. It was originally larger, but I cropped it down to that size. I also have a 576x720 version of the image, but I think it is worthless for a relatively large print.

So it looks like I can get either an "almost outstanding" 5x7 or a "very good" 8x10. I'm not sure what to do. I may order them both and see how they look.

It begs the question...Where do they get the "8x10" Document Size in the following Photoshop box?

It is directly related to the pixel dimensions box. If I update the pixel dimensions it will change the document size automatically.


You get there by "Image -> Image Size"

200ppi uninterpolated is the minimum we use to print stuff up to 11x14, 300ppi preferred. http://www.mpix.com is a good option for online, but there's got to be some decent places locally.

yes, document size is what you need to look at, but you don't want to have the resample image checkbox checked unless you absolutely have to.

if you dont mind cutting the pictures yourself. you can get really good quality prints done at the digital media lab in dh hill. they print 40inches wide and however long you need, but if you are looking to get alot printed its pretty good quality and a decent price. the only thing is you have to take the time to go on photoshop and resize and possition all of your pictures so that they print in the smallest amount of space possible.

i got a 30x40 sheet done (w about 15 pictures on it ranging from 20x30 to 4x6) for about $30~

A friend of mine uses ezprints.com. I don't think they're too expensive and her prints turned out fabulous. She was printing 8 x 10's that were going to be matted and framed for the wall.
