Anyone taken CSC 255 w/ Watkins? I took CSC 251 with him, which was just for an easy A, but didn't know how difficult Perl is. I'm in CSC 316 now and I just hate Java with a passion, so I'm ready to get away from that language and learn more. Its just a simple 1 credit hour class, so is it an easy A?

Definitely an easy A. I took the in class session, and he's probably about the most boring person I've ever had. All of the notes are online and I believe there's like 4 or 5 small assignments, so it isn't that bad.

ha, and if you hate java, then you're going to love CSC 326(Software Engineering).

yeah thats why I'm thinking about changing my major lol - I really can't stand Java - I can do any other language, but theres something about Java I deteste.

I've got Rhee for the class, and its hard to understand his lectures online and I'm not doing too well, even though I made an A+ in 116 and 216, I think I've finally met the end of my CSC career. I wanted to do Networking, which is simple for me, but can't get there until I pass this Java crap.

So I think I'm gonna change to a BS in Engineering.

I mean it's not all that bad. I took 316 with rhee through Distance Education and it made me want to bang my head against the wall. I think it was probably worse than 326. In 326, there are a couple mini projects where you have a partner and then the big(probably 8 week long) project. We worked with iTrust, an open source online medical records site. I think a lot of people lost sleep over that damn thing. The code base is so large that it's virtually impossible to familiarize yourself with everything. We ended up doing a shitton of work with java, jsp pages, and databases.

yeah I've taken all my CSC classes through DE - well almost all of my classes to tell the truth - and I havent had any problems - but 316 is really kicking my ass.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to take it again, and I've never failed anything in my life. My 3.8 GPA is gonna flop

I think my freshman year GPA was my worst.

I had 316 with Stewart and my buddy had Rhee. That semester Rhee gave out 40% Fs if I recall correctly.

I was in Stewart's class, and I'd like to punch him in the fucking nose. The programs sucked and a lot of people didn't do well on the midterm so he gave everyone the option to just withdraw from the class. So I was one of the shit ton of people who withdrew. About a week later he decided to just go back and give everyone 100's on the programs.

haha i must have been in that section distro for rouskas cause it sucked when i took it...
coulda been worse don't get me wrong, but i hated the class itself. mostly just taught myself and programmed my tail off.

and ^^ did you have the old irish guy Stewart? cause i dropped his 302 class cuz it sucked balls to try to follow him

and srsly... i always thought Java was easier lol
