Hard habit to break...especially growing up in a house where both parents work in a prison

...oh and cause "fuck" just seems like the right thing when I accidentally cut myself and there are blood drops on my model

i tend to say GD a lot. not like an over abundant amount, but it gets dropped a few times a day. i dont even think about it. a lot of people take offense to using "the lords name in vain" i say quit using your tears to clean your vagina.

"Cursing is a wise man's way of venting his spleen."

For me, cursing is like the valve on the pressure cooker. And the more creative the curse, the better. Lately, I try to find some way to involve balls or vagina in my curses.

I avoid GD like the plague. It offends my Christian up-bringing. Yeah, I know. . .a little hypocritical, but it's how it is.

George Carlin says it makes people notice you. So by that logic everyone here is basically just an attention whore (including me). That explains a lot.

I curse quite a bit, but I definitely have rules about them.

I use "fuck" and its variations probably a hundred times a day in all sorts of ways. I also think it's perfectly acceptable to say "Fuck me" and "Let's fuck" and "I love fucking you" with your sexual partner or partners.

But I hate it when people use the word "fuck" to describe sex to an outside party.

My roommate can be doing it with her boyfriend in the kitchen screaming, "FUCK ME! FUCK ME! FUCK ME!" while I'm standing there cooking dinner, and I'd be fine with it. But the next day if she were to be like, "I really liked fucking Joe in the kitchen..." I'd get totally grossed out by the word "fucking."

The exception to the outside party rule is strangers. If you bone some stranger in the bathroom, you almost have to describe it as "fucking" to your friends.

Anyway...

I'm not quite sure how "taking the Lord's name in vain" has become almost strictly synonymous with saying "goddamn", "Oh God", and the like. I'm no Bible scholar, but I'm pretty sure that's almost totally missing the point of that Commandment.

My interpretation of that one is--to paraphrase--if you're going to call yourself a Christian, then you need to act like one. Maybe saying "goddammit" isn't particularly Christ-like, so I suppose it does fall under "Lord's name in vain" umbrella, but I'm guessing that Jesus wouldn't be nearly as concerned about you using one particular bit of vulgar language so much as he'd care about how you treat people and other such important business.
