Starting in the NBA this year.

Just hit a halfcourt shot.

Just another reminder of what a disgrace Herb Sendek was.

I still laugh at the fact that most NC State fans think Wilkens wasn't good at State.

Herb coached five NBA players (that i can think of at least)

The two he kept on the team barely had a cup of coffee in the league (Hodge & Grundy)

I am neutral toward Harrington's departue because he was an overrated douche with a horrible shot selection but you can't argue he had more NBA shelf life than the aforementioned.

He pissed Powell off who has yet to shine in the league but has been roster material.

And he runs off Wilkens who so far has had some success in the NBA. What a fucking assclown, we would have been loaded with a roster of Grundy, Hodge, Wilkens, and Powell.

But thank god he stuck to his guns with talentless fucks like MOD.

Really. Correct me where I'm wrong but didn't Wilkens quit the team to try his luck at an early draft and come crawling back when he realized that he was trying to go pro too soon? Then Herb didn't take him back in part because of the quote above.

But I heard he made a halfcourt shot. Man we would have ruled that year had he been here.

We should recruit based solely on a player's ability to hit halfcourt shots, cuz obviously that means you're awesome.

Damien Wilkens drinks wine coolers. Telling him to hit the bricks was the last good thing Herb actually did here.

I would not want a coach who would keep a guy who's not a team player around just because he is high profile and/or has NBA potential. Wilkins was not good at the college level at NCSU or UGA, but was given a shot in the NBA because of family NBA connections.

I'd rather have players who perform well at the college level and win games and championships even if they have no prayer of playing or succeeding in the NBA than prima donnas like Wilkins.

He was pretty damn solid his freshman year at NC State. He regressed a little as a Soph., but I put that more on the coaching staff than Wilkins.

Herb's job was to coach COLLEGE teams. BOTH were GREAT COLLEGE PLAYERS. It's not really his job to develop talent into NBA players--it's just nice and helps recruiting wise. Herb's job was to coach and win COLLEGE basketball games, which he was doing before he left.

It's also not Herb's fault Grundy became an alcoholic and that's why he was dismissed from Atlanta, ala KRob style.

I' pretty sure no has missed him. Not a good fit here.

Quote :

Actually, no. There was a reason he entered the draft when he did and it had nothing to do with Herb. That is as far as I will comment.

Quote :

He didn't run off Wilkens, he just didn't allow him to come back after he decided to enter the draft, mostly because of his uncle and father, and the fact Wilkens wasn't a team player. Not being a team player is one thing, but when you aren't a team player, and aren't that good anyway, you're just a ticking time bomb. It was the best thing Herb did for the program.

Didn't he end up transferring?

Dominick Mejia would have never seen time here at NCSU.

You are confusing him with the one that went to DePaul (Sammy Mejia). The Mejia that played here (Dominick) went to Drexel. Totally different players. Some of you just make up shit to hate on Herb

P.S. it's Damien Wilkins...and he plays on possibly the worst NBA team out there.

so long as you realize the reasons that Duke and UNC perpetually beat our asses was because our best players were COLLEGE players and UNC and Duke always recruit NBA TALENT...thank God Sidney Lowe is recruiting players like JJ HICKSON who have NBA TALENT since thats what it takes to BEAT UNC AND DUKE

She's referring to the rumor that Powell would have been ineligible because of improper benefits or academics, one or the other. Of course, Powell has stated on record that he left because Herb favored Hodge over him.

Really? Interesting... considering Hodge was a much better all around college player then Powell and fifty times the leader Powell was, I think Herb was right... in this case.

^ Herb should have been fired for "lack of institutional control" clearly then...

last nights 4-14 night actcually is indicatvie of his play at state, big risk/some reward player. he never met a shot he didnt like and, much like harrington, he was super streaky going cold or hot at the drop of a hat.

Not really. We beat UNC last year, should have beat them in the ACC championship all with Herb players. Over Herb's years, we beat a #1 UNC and a #1 Duke (played them 3 timesand #2 Wake and MD with players that are no longer in the NBA or never had a shot. Duke and UNC beat us because they had speed, an inside presence, or a freakish 3 pt. shooter. That, and we had patented scoring draughts.

Read what you just wrote fag. Drexel had the best team in the history of their school last year and we possibly had one of our worst and we beat them easily at their place. If you think Mejia would have done anything here you are insane. I guess Trey Guidry would have been ALL-ACC too.

EDIT: And with our sorry AD, if Sidney hadn't fell into his lap, who knows who would be coaching. Probably Dereck Whittenburg. That would not have been a good thing had Lee Fowler actually get a coach. Fowler got lucky with Sid. Whatever its pointless.

ha i never thought he'd do anything incredibly significant here. just called you out for your ridiculous accusations. and dom would have been a fine reserve. i'm not crying over his loss though by any means.

you can try to reason it anyway you want. no one ever claimed to know sid would come here or that he would be as good as he is. but the sooner you admit you were wrong and that WE ARE BETTER OFF for getting rid of your beloved herb, the better off we'll all be.
