I was thinking about moving there. The apartment website makes it look really nice but there were lots of bad reviews on apartmentratings.com. Does anyone live there or know anything about them. I just want to be in a safe area. 11/5/2007 12:10:24 AM |

if that place is near the lake lynn facility, i doubt crime is a big problem there 11/5/2007 12:13:09 AM |

that describes pretty much every apartment complex. I've seen a lot that look very nice in the pictures and like absolute shit in person. Just the same . . . some don't always look the greatest on the website and are rather nice in person.11/5/2007 12:18:04 AM |

not that good. management is awful. floorplan is not the best.
the lake lynn area is only safe in parts. NEVER rent from cumberland cove. ever. 11/5/2007 12:55:39 AM |

I have rented @ Dominion, our apt was OK (never had bugs or thugs problems..ha). We also rented @ Cumberland..what a disaster. I made mgmt let us out of our lease after 3 months. The mgr was a total bitch and the upstairs neighbors and their 3 wild kids got to compain about us but when we bitched about them we got "well they are just living". 11/5/2007 10:49:39 AM |

My now-wife rented there for a year. Yea, it was kinda old, but always felt safe and the price was right. And it's got a great trail around the lake if you dig running. Great location if you like being near Glenwood.
I'd recommend it. 11/5/2007 12:04:57 PM |

Oh man, the memories I have from that place. Granted we lived there for all of a year and I was in the sixth/seventh grade but still. Truly a unique period of time in my youth. 11/7/2007 10:53:25 AM |

^^ that guy who murdered her lived there, but he's dead now. so unless you're worried about serial killer ghosts, i don't think it's a problem. i guess its possible he wasnt the real killer, but they had all sorts of evidence on him.
either way, dominion isn't the one being sued, its the next one over. and i doubt the case will stick together (they already dropped the suit because the case was falling apart at trial). they cant help that the guy lived there, and the suit is saying that the apartments are responsible cause they didnt fix a window lock that a previous tenant pointed out, and that they didnt tell everyone that someone complained about a creepo outside. like the girl that was stalked and killed would still be alive today otherwise.
its definitely shitty what happened to her, don't get me wrong. i just think its in poor taste to sue the apartment over the murder. and wanted to point out that dominion wasnt where the murder happened. and also wanted to procrastinate, which i am the best at. 11/7/2007 11:09:15 AM |

^ Yes, thank you for mentioning that the guy that killed her is dead now. It is not an imminent threat.
However, the incident might at least make one think hard about the safety of the complex. 11/7/2007 12:31:07 PM |

I lived there for a year and had no real problems. The neighbors were nice enough and got along well with my dog. The lake trail is good. Never had any issue with management. We had one instance where the air conditioner in the apartment above us started leaking some sort of smelly shit that trickled down into our closet and it took maintenance a full day to get to it. We just left the apartment and went to a friend's place until it was fixed, but I think they could have done it quicker. No real biggie, though. Decent tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, small but decent workout room, good trail around the lake, available alarm systems... what else do you need? 11/7/2007 1:10:25 PM |

Seriously -- you can find violence stories linked to every single apt. complex in Raleigh if you try hard enough.
I always felt safe around there, personally, and so did my fiance living by her lonesome. 11/7/2007 1:27:19 PM |

DOMINION SUCKS. PERIOD. i lived there for almost a year (i broke my lease to get the fuck out) and i had to deal with all sorts of shit. people are generally out of control. mexicans building tents in the front lawn all summer sitting there. shitty appliances, NOBODY GETS THEIR DEPOSIT BACK EVER!!!, the lawn has dog shit everywhere, the pool is generally shut down due to broken glass/ dog shit in the water. the lake is dangerous. unless you get the loft set up at the lake front its not worth it. my place was 650/month and i have a newly renovated house on campus now for 700 with an acre and a deck, etc. LOOK ELSEWHERE!!! townhomes and houses are the shit. try craigslist. 11/7/2007 7:56:44 PM |

seriously dont let them rope me in. i know people that still live there that would kill to break their lease (which most people do and they bankroll off it) 11/7/2007 8:03:34 PM |
