Minimalistic beats with rappers spitting lyrics with no regards to the underlying track does not good music make.
Shit doesn't flow.
It isn't melodic.
And generally, it doesn't really move me. 11/5/2007 9:07:58 AM |

I've never been a big fan
It's good background music at a party or in a car with lots of people
But when you stop and try to listen to it, it doesn't work nearly as well
9 people in a group doesn't work unless half of them are playing instruments 11/5/2007 10:08:04 AM |

Thats why you gotta drop most of them minus M.E.T.H.O.D. man, tha chef, and of course Tony Starks. 11/5/2007 10:12:35 AM |

I got Fishscale and it's nice. You can tell he took some time to try and rap on the track, rather than just rapping over the track.
The flow meshes with the beats, and it's more than some half baked "look at what grimy track I just spit out" shit that marked most of the earlier Wu shit.
Personally, as a group and in total, they get way too much credit for what they are. 11/5/2007 10:51:43 AM |

they really havent put out anything note-worthy since Wu-Tang Forever
that album, in my opinion, is a classic. Everything since has been weak 11/5/2007 12:50:24 PM |

All the albumb rza produced for members were good. He only produced 1 album for each good member though.
and of course, 36 chambers and wu tang forever. 11/5/2007 12:52:57 PM |

RZA's production is amazing if you listen to some of his outside-wu work
the beat he made for the lebron/nike commercial and his work on the afro samurai soundtrack are just a few examples
personally i love RZA's flow, speech impediment, and overall cadence...rhymes are sometimes a little too "Lil' Wayne", i.e., he's sayin somethin, and it sounds good, but if you really think about what he's sayin, it doesnt really mean shit
but that's part of the appeal...the how it's said versus what is being said. 11/5/2007 1:14:40 PM |

some more bangers
and if you're saying they're overrated as hell...are you saying their recent shit? cause obviously they've fallen off from their early-mid 90s prime, but most artists have as well...but if you mean in general...like 36 chambers is overrated...then yeah, lots of stupid going on 11/5/2007 4:12:09 PM |
