Job Desciription

Coordinating with the Web Services team and under the guidance of the Web Services Manager, scope, plan, design, test and implement server-based database solutions for law school staff and faculty. Develop web-based applications. Specific duties and responsibilities:

1. Design, code, test and de-bug new databases or database components. Modify and enhance existing databases. Perform routine maintenance. Program database changes to address invalid data. Conceptualize and create reporting tools as needed for staff. Communicate relational database methodologies and/or data modeling logic to non-technical staff.

2. Provide technical expertise in computer application technology, especially for the Web. Develop server-based databases. Perform application design, programming, and support of web-based applications. Test and debug new programs to verify their accuracy and completeness; maintain and revise existing web-based programs to ensure operating proficiency or to adapt programs to new requirements.

3. Prepare training materials and give presentations to users. Serve as liaison to clients regarding special requests and programming/custom application operational issues as they arise; ensure that database products are delivered within an agreed time frame. Write or contribute to instructions or manuals to guide end users. Lead or train others in using database applications.

4. Perform or direct revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase efficiency or adapt to new requirements.

5. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Education/Training:
Required: Experience in SQL, especially MySQL. Experience in one or several programming languages, especially PHP and JavaScript, as well as fluent familiarity with CSS and xhtml.
Preferred: BA/BS degree or equivalent relevant training in Information Technology.
