I got email from an old roommate/college friend...he flew tankers in the Air Force up until about a year ago and he's now with UPS (we call him Captain Doody).

The fucker will be flying Boeing 747-400s out of Anchorage, AK.

downtown raleigh looks and feels like new york city comparatively.


i bet the flights out and back in are nice though, because it's a very majestic sight seeing the mountain ranges from 30k ft flying up there, but flying specific flight paths over and over would cause it to lose its luster i bet

Yeah, if you're a goddamn retiree or you like being in the middle of nothing with no appreciable culture. I live right on the river, but it's really kind of lost its appeal.

Of course, Anchorage might just be that bad itself.

But really, it was the job itself (flying a 747) that I splooged over.
