I'm not the one being uptight here.

There are plenty of people, even in this thread, who have expressed not believing in the idea of "the one," so why would you criticize a person for being in a relationship if they feel that way?

but please, feel free to start off on one of your "THAT ISN'T REAL LIFE" diatribes, because I'm sure that's the only reason you want to pick on me

sigh i wasn't criticizing. i said just CURIOUS. and i said in a previous post i didn't believe in "the one" either. and in that post i tried to convey that i didn't mean "the one" in terms of marriage but in terms of someone that you have something substantial with. i basically meant, is it a live in the moment have fun now kind of mentality? cause i don't have that. even if it isn't the one i at least want to feel compatible enough with the person to not put a deadline on things...like saying oh they def aren't "the one." i figured it would be something like what jackleg said...just having fun or maybe things weren't as serious as expected. it was just a question to understandddd. some people are serial daters others perfer commitmentless flings other people like to be attached. it is just interesting to hear other peoples thoughts.

I think that marriage might indicate a stronger bond of trust, privacy and legal immunity

I think I like that

marriage won't create that

^thanks

you have to stop looking at marriage as a legal or business relationship

it is far far more than a simple contract.

^^by definition, the marriage creates the legal bit, so I'm not sure how "legal immunity" begets "legal immunity"

And I don't think anyone sees it as a mere contract, but it is legally binding in a way that merely being serious about each other isn't.

ahem ^

Snewf, you and your gf go find some old couple that's been married 50+ years and ask them what they think of love and marriage.

my use of the phrase "bitches and hos" was supposed to allude to the not complete seriousness of my post. but it appears they are pretty serious words so, next time i'll choose more wisely

I dunno if she is or isn't but she's all about me and there is something there that I've not had before

maybe she is, that would be cool, but I'm not gonna rush it and drop the L word or try and get hitched just because I'm comfortable

I'm just glad I didn't get married to the one I was supposed to get married to

Personally, I know I was unsure about getting married. But in hindsight, it has been the best thing that has happened to me.

No one can predict the future. You just have to take a leap of faith. Some days marraige is really hard work. Every day I learn something new about my wife and the only thing I want to do is make her happy in any way that I can.

I know this sounds sappy, but all you young'uns will find out eventually, if you are lucky. I know I am.

^^^^ thats pretty cool, I've pretty much decided I wanna settle down anyway

I'm tired of all the chicks that come and go and the fact that I utterly despised most of them, they were just fun for a few evenings and not what I wanted

I kinda hope my situation works, esp since her brother and his wife are really close friends of mine and her dad is a good friend also, but if it doesn't oh well life goes on

I think she's ready for the same thing herself though

Sex changes, but not drastically. The frequency of sex for us decreased, but that has a lot to do with life changes that come along with marriage: job changes, stress of buying a house, having a kid, etc. However, the quality and type of sex that we had prior to marriage did not really change. We 'make love' on occasion and we have some pretty scary freaktastic fuckfests on occasion. Upon reflection, there is probably a further shedding of shame and extra level of comfort that probably ups the freak factor at times.

I am just burying what would've been a lyrics thread here. I wanted to post about "Ana Ng" by They Might Be Giants, so I searched for a thread with the word "antipodes," and this popped up. But in case anyone mistakes my post, the answer to the question posed by the thread is an unqualified yes.

Ana Ng and I are getting old, and we still haven't walked in the glow of each other's majestic presence

Aha, what a trip down memory lane. There are some gems ITT.

By the way, I never even came close to marrying that vagina that I dated back in 2007. Yuck, glad I ended that shit.
