What's the deal with having to wait in line at a convenience store these days?

You used to be able to walk in, grab a $1.29 20 oz. soda, $0.75 candy bar, and pay and leave. Now you have to wait on every Betty Sue and Jim Bob to pick out $50 worth of scratch-and-wins.

i told a guy to move aside to scratch off his tickets when i was trying to pay for gas once. if you buy one and win, you should have to wait in line again to collect or whatever. or they could just get rid of that stupid lottery all together.
