Step 1: Wait five or six months for the WGA strike to end.

Now is a PERFECT time to get into the biz by being a scab....however, you should be aware that unless you get paid a billion or so $$ for your first few works, you're going to have a very short career. You WILL be blackballed from the WGA.

Unions are so fucking stupid. You need to have a skill in order to have any kind of real leverage. I don't know if you've been watching TV this last decade or so, but clearly anyone can write a sitcom.

Unions are stupid unless you belong to one. If you don't then they're pretty retarded. When I interned at NBC is was a bunch of us (only interns, no one else) sitting in the viewing room one day and we needed to change the channel. We couldn't do it. We literally couldn't touch the up button on the television because only union members can. That's fucking retarded.

When we had our event production company, working in certain cities always cost us a shit ton more on labor because they're union cities. Like Detroit and Vegas for example, we were only allowed to send out 1 of our guys to be the supervisor and he couldn't touch any tools....literally. And the union rules had shit like a mandatory 15 minute (paid) break every hour and all kinds of shit like that. So I'm sure the workers were happy, although I'm sure they pay a hefty membership fee...very hefty.
