store credit cards ftw. they often times offer interest free credit in some form or fashion. some has 'online only' interest free credit for specific items or categories. 11/11/2007 6:02:22 PM

yeah but the Best Buy card offers same as cash for 18months a lot... which is pretty freakin nice... but yeah, it's 24% or something retarded beyond that time frame...
Same as cash offers are really good things as long as you know you can pay it off in the period without sweating it 11/11/2007 6:32:51 PM

everyone calls dnl stupid yet he says the smartest thing in this thread
or you can get that nice hdtv in college while making 9 bucks an hour and default after missing one payment and pay 26% on it for the next 17 years!!1
[Edited on November 11, 2007 at 6:36 PM. Reason : btw. nc laws prohibit rates over like 16% or something, but no credit cards are based here.] 11/11/2007 6:35:18 PM

i did a favor for a guy and let him "Get a tv on my card". and he just pays monthly for it. i didnt want him to know its already paid off. and the jackleg interest company is making money off it.
ps its only like 80 bucks over 6 months, eat my ass

Interest & Fees suck.
Credit cards should be used for large planned purchases only. Its hard to restrict their use only to that. I basically lived off mine (along with an equity loan) between last November and August when I got a decent job again.
Needless to say I am kind of that now that I got some good cash coming in all of it is going toward bills. I have about 10k coming in this month in sales commissions and about all of it will go on paying off those credit card balances.
A good thing to remember about credit cards is that carrying over .35 (about a third) of a balance against your credit limit will negatively effect your scores. You can never miss a payment but still have mediocre credit rating. Pay all those fuckers off and watch it shoot up! 11/11/2007 6:53:39 PM

its gotta depend, right? i know people that only use one card and use it to the tune of about 60% of the credit limit at a time, and still have great scores. maybe they have other cards they dont carry a balance on and it averages out?
people have better scores than me and a lot more debt. i dont have any credit card debt and i still know people with points on me. even though i have higher limits and less debt. must be that all my stuff is about a year old. i had cards for a short time in college but hit the limit and saw what would happen and got rid of the cards and didnt fuck with em again for like 10 years 11/11/2007 7:01:43 PM

here's a trick i found
Best Buy and Circuit City have price match guarantees, BB at 60 and CC at 30 i'm fairly sure
Go to http://blackfriday.info and find ads for these guys. Find a TV you want based on the ads (ie has a big price mark down)
Buy the TV within 30/60 days of BF. On or after BF, you call in their price guarantee and get a refund on your purchase to match the BF deal.
Profit. 11/12/2007 2:06:18 PM

you've done this?
i would think that pricematching doesn't include deals like blackfriday. 11/12/2007 2:10:10 PM

my officemate got it suggested to him by a guy at Circuit City when he was looking to buy a TV.
Obviously you should double check, but it makes sense. 11/12/2007 3:06:18 PM

i tried to pricematch a tv and wasnt able to because of the type of sale the lower one was. and it wasnt like open box, just a clearance. so i doubt it works on black friday.
plus theres not much of a deal you can show me worth getting up and lining up outside best buy. id pull a john edwards or whoever and get someone else to go get it for me for 100 bucks or something 11/12/2007 5:46:36 PM

I got a $3,000 cash advance in March to buy my truck, paid a 1.99% APR for 6 months, paid $1,500 in August and am paying the rest in January. It has gone back to my 9.9% fixed APR on it now that the 6 months are up, but my payment is only like $27 a month... so no big deal. I haven't charged anything else on it since the cash advance, but have gotten another Pt credit card since then with a low, variable rate which I have kept paid off or paid in 2 months. I also have excellent credit, so I must be doing something right! ![](images/beatup.gif) 11/12/2007 7:16:58 PM

They wont price match anything on black friday, the whole point of it is the frenzy created by the crazy door busters. They are not going to continue to sell stuff at or below cost more than they advertised. 11/13/2007 12:01:24 AM
