The Bible is fucking rad compared to The Great Gatsby. Seriously.

And the Bible chomps my crotch.

I'm more disturbed by The Great Gatsby making the list. That book was fucking horrible.

who puts the bible as their favorite book?

i mean i know why people do it

but have you ever tried to actually READ the bible?

no one reads that shit

they just keep it in their house in case anyone asks if they have one

no one wants to look like an areligious asshole

^^^ It's better when you're not being made to read it by an under-qualified pretentious high school English teacher. Most critics consider it to be one of the best American novels ever written and one of the crowning jewels of 20th century literature.

It's a much better book, when you read it in your early twenties, rather than when you are forced to read it in the 8th grade.

i'm a catholic and i don't consider the bible to be something i should categorize with other books. I consider it a religious icon that contains stories related to my beliefs. The bible, and leisurely entertainment reading are in totally different categories. People who put the bible as one of their favorite books are either:

a.) goody goodies trying to show off how religious they are

b.) sluts who try to incorporate religion into their lives to atone for their sins

I liked The Great Gatsby a lot, but find it shocking that so many people apparently have it listed as one of their favorite books.

I'd bet a bunch of money that only a small fraction of the people who listed Pride & Prejudice have bothered to read it. Gatsby should be #1 on that short list, anyhow.

I have, it's actually pretty interesting when you actually WANT to read it, and not when you have to read it for confirmation in middle school.
This past summer when I was working at church camp I learned a great deal that I never knew was in the bible, pretty neat stuff going on in it.
