How bad does it get eastbound, and how early does it start? I would assume a lot of people leave work in RTP early.

It's quite heavy all day. Mid afternoon - 7 pm seems to be the worst.

Also remember that NCHP is having additional patrols on all interstates and major 4 lane roads, with a special concentration on speeders.

I assume westbound will be more of an issue. My prediction is it will crowd up between the Durham freeway and 15/501 going west (maybe a little further). Eastbound you should see just normal delays - something like 540/Airport Boulevard to Wade Ave, and then in Johnston County between 70 and 42.

It's gonna be bad. I remember last year, I sat in traffic FOREVER. I was coming from Davis (IBM) and it was HORRIBLE. But then again, what day isn't. I'm 17 miles from home and it takes me like 45 minutes or more to get home EVERY day.

How does this route from Greensboro to Raleigh sound: I-40, I-85, US-70 in Durham, NC-98 (Wake Forest Hwy.) east to NC-50 south into Raleigh.

i'm actually thinking of not doing a thanksgiving with the parents for once

monday night i'll drive down to meet with them at NCSU Tuesday (assuming roommates are in town ) from where we drive to Kentucky, then next day drive to illinois. That's half day of visiting on Wednesday, then Thursday and Friday, leave Saturday morning, mid Sundayish get dropped in Raleigh, that night get back to Richmond and work Monday.

Ugh...

That's why flextime is crucial if you work in the park.

^^ OH I'm on flex time. My manager allows us to come in between 8-9 and you can leave after 4 (as long as you compensate for your lunch and) especially if you wanna make up some time to get 40 hours. Love it. But still....even if I leave at like 6:30, I'm still in traffic for like 40 minutes. Grrrr!

Where do you work??

Greensboro to Raleigh? Take 421 S to Siler City then 64 E to Raleigh. I guess it all depends on where in Raleigh you are trying to get to, but this is the best route to bypass 40 IMO.

The only problem area being 64 E from Apex High until it intersects with US 1. You catch every light even when you are the only car on the road and the volume is terrible during rush hour.
