I have two lcd monitors, two different video cards.

One is noticeably brighter than the other, as in the whites look whiter and the backlight seems to put out more power.

I purchased both the monitors together, so I guess it could just be a variation, or one of them is on it's way out.

Is there anything software wise that I could do to make the picture whiter/appear brighter on the dimmer monitor?

Is one hooked up via DVI and the other analog? Might have something to do with signal quality differences between the two.

same brand, model, size.

purchased at the same time from the same place.

plugged into the same outlet.

i couldn't tell you if it always did this as i had these monitors at two different locations and finally got them in one place.

both are connected through dvi-d.

i thought it could have been that too, so i picked up another cable today (exactly the same as the other cable - notice the trend here )

I would say the screen is dying. My dad had a screen do the same thing, just wouldn't brighten. It soon faded out so much you couldn't get the brightness to read shit.

If the screen brightness starts fading then maxing it out will still be lower than the other one dimmed.
