Quote : | "NEW YORK - Scientists have created the equivalent of embryonic stem cells from ordinary skin cells, a breakthrough that could someday produce new treatments for disease without the explosive moral questions of embyro cloning.
ADVERTISEMENT Research teams in the United States and Japan showed that a simple lab technique can rival the complex and highly controversial idea of extracting stem cells from cloned embryos.
It was a landmark achievement on all fronts, defusing one of the most divisive debates in modern medicine and religion. It was lauded by scientists, ethicists and religious groups.
"This work represents a tremendous scientific milestone — the biological equivalent of the Wright Brothers' first airplane," said Dr. Robert Lanza, whose company, Advanced Cell Technology, has been trying to extract stem cells from cloned human embryos.
"It redefines the ethical terrain," said Laurie Zoloth, a bioethicist at Northwestern University.
"It's a win-win for everyone involved," said the Rev. Thomas Berg of the Westchester Institute, a Roman Catholic think tank. "We have a way to move forward which ... brings the kind of painful national debate over this controversial research to very much a peaceful and promising resolution."
At the White House, President Bush, who vetoed two bills to allow federal funding for stem-cell research, was described as "very pleased."
"The president believes medical problems can be solved without compromising either the high aims of science or the sanctity of human life," said a statement from his press secretary. " |

Stop making your standard childish excuse defense every time someone calls you out. The section is plenty readable. Hell, you've heard of the user block plugin, correct? Your problems are solved. 11/21/2007 10:11:08 AM |

Chance, that statement wasnt directed at just you; its regarding the whole group of users that cant ignore each other
you are talking about ingnore user add on [that hasnt been updated in ages as Christine pointed out] but maybe you should take your own advice and ignore me, treetwista, god, golovco etc.
im not going to argue with you in this thread...this is about stem cell research and provides a thread where people can discuss this topic w/out worrying about wading through all the bullshit in TSB.
back on topic...11/21/2007 10:22:48 AM |

Hmm, thats strange. I mention about using the user block plugin, I guess I don't know what I am talking about, right?
There were various threads in tech talk explaining how to make it work.
You download the Nightly Tester Tools, and they'll be an option in your add-ons window to force compatibility.
I'm using version 2.0.0.9 of firefox, and this is what I see

But I don't have a problem with responding to the douchnozzles, so why would I take my own advice. It's part of the wolf web experience. You're the one that is doing the complaining.

So far, aaronburro and agentlion has made some interesting points regarding the debate. Is there a real fear of clicking on the link I provided and continuing with a discussion already in progress? It isn't like porn is randomly going to pop in there like any given chit chat thread.
Why is it if some other user creates a duplicate thread, you or OmarBadu has a problem with it, you talk about searching, and you'll lock the thread.
But if you are the one that fucks up, you'll whine and complain, try yet again to make me out to be the bad poster when I'm clearly not, and all you really had to do was admit you fucked up, lock the thread, and move right along.
Just grow the fuck up already.11/21/2007 11:21:01 AM |

^^What is your deal, Chance? You're ruining lots of decent lounge threads with your trolling. This could have been a good thread, but now I'll just add it to my list of topics to avoid. 11/21/2007 11:42:38 AM |

No trolling here my friend. Just click the link I gave you and go to the thread where this is already being discussed. The mods made it clear with their actions that we don't need duplicated threads, this one shouldn't be an exception. 11/21/2007 11:44:18 AM |
