Sooo...my parents have a Canon Rebel 2000 EOS 35mm camera. *NOT DIGITAL*
My dad wants a decent lense for taking long distance photos such as mountain ranges or waterfalls from afar, etc.
Anyone have any suggestions for a decent lense for under $300?
I'm thinking they'd be better off just buying a new camera, but I think he just really wants to look cool with his big lense... 11/21/2007 10:21:04 PM |

http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EF-70-300mm-f-4-5.6-IS-USM-Lens-Review.aspx Check out the review. For ~$550, It looks like a decent lens. Of course, the best lenses are the L series. The best of which will run over $1000.
http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EF-70-200mm-f-4.0-L-USM-Lens-Review.aspx This is an L series lens for $540, no Image Stabilization, and the focal length is 100mm shorter.
Tons of reviews on this guy's site, so it's a place to start for Canon glass. 11/22/2007 10:32:57 AM |

T-dog...just FYI, it is "lens" not "lense"...unless the world got flip turned upside down. On another note, my parents and big ria both have that camera, i didn't read the post, but holler at me sometime 11/24/2007 7:11:51 PM |

For that price range, sigma makes some good glass. Sigma 70-300 would suit your needs, but I would recommend the canon 70-200 f/4 L lens. It's tack sharp and gives out some great looking pictures, but it is also more expensive than your budget. Just to note, since it is a film body, 200 maybe too short for distance shots. 11/25/2007 12:06:09 AM |
