Sooo...my parents have a Canon Rebel 2000 EOS 35mm camera. *NOT DIGITAL*

My dad wants a decent lense for taking long distance photos such as mountain ranges or waterfalls from afar, etc.

Anyone have any suggestions for a decent lense for under $300?

I'm thinking they'd be better off just buying a new camera, but I think he just really wants to look cool with his big lense...

Check out the review. For ~$550, It looks like a decent lens. Of course, the best lenses are the L series. The best of which will run over $1000.

This is an L series lens for $540, no Image Stabilization, and the focal length is 100mm shorter.

Tons of reviews on this guy's site, so it's a place to start for Canon glass.

T-dog...just FYI, it is "lens" not "lense"...unless the world got flip turned upside down. On another note, my parents and big ria both have that camera, i didn't read the post, but holler at me sometime

For that price range, sigma makes some good glass. Sigma 70-300 would suit your needs, but I would recommend the canon 70-200 f/4 L lens. It's tack sharp and gives out some great looking pictures, but it is also more expensive than your budget. Just to note, since it is a film body, 200 maybe too short for distance shots.
