how will anyone stop it? You know the spread 5 offense that Green bay uses with Bret Farve. Seems nearly impossible to stop. Too much time for a man defense (dime), and Farve just dismantles zones. I think its a very good idea to spread those guys out that far (from one sideline to the other). 11/22/2007 10:40:52 PM |

Play tight at the line to avoid the quick throws and then get good pass rush. The spread offense isn't unstoppable in college so it's not going to be unstoppable in the NFL. I think Dallas slows it down next week with their solid blitzing packages. Look for Ware to bring the heat all game.
Though Jaquees Reeves will probably get burned for 2 by Jennings, haha. 11/22/2007 11:16:34 PM |

Easier said than done man. Its extremely difficult in the NFL to pressure Qbs with d-linemen only. Then with a Qb like Farve, its adds another dimension. On top of that its no ordinary "spread". I mean, these receivers are linin' up across the entire fields width.11/22/2007 11:32:58 PM |

Just disguise the hell out of your coverages, alternating zones periodically. This strategy won't "stop" 5-wides, but it will get you quite a few turnovers (provided your a decent zone-defense).
What you CAN'T do is get arrogant and think you're the team that can stop it with staight up man and a safety deep. Before you know it, you're slowass MLB will be covering their slot reciever. Then you are fucked. 11/23/2007 9:09:06 AM |

Yeah, i guess thats sounds fair enough. Better explanation than that one dumb ass kid who made the college comparison earlier. Its not like these guys are 9-1 for no reason.
My guess would be a solid nickel. Disguise it a bit, as long as you can get a good rush with 4 d-linemen. You just can't give a Qb like Farve all day. If Dallas fails, THEN i'll begin to get worried. 11/23/2007 2:05:39 PM |
