From that same article...
Quote : | "Pam Batts of Raleigh arrived at a Target in suburban Knightdale at 3:30 a.m., getting the second slot in line so that she could buy a Wii for her 8-year-old son. It was the only item on the boy's Christmas list.
But about 30 minutes before the doors opened, Target staff announced the store had been sold out of the consoles since Sunday, when they last received a shipment.
"Now what do I do?" Batts said, throwing her head back and looking skyward. "I've got just a month to find one."" |
Damnit, you stupid bitch. Teach the kid that he can't always get what he fucking wants, especially at 8 years old. You'll spoil the little fucker rotten. ![](images/mad.gif) 11/23/2007 7:57:00 PM

I dunno, I kinda admire the kid for just asking for a Wii and not a bunch of other shit too 11/23/2007 7:57:47 PM

It's really the mom's attitude that gets to me.
The kid asks for a gaming console for Christmas. She goes and stands in like for hours on end, and whines when she can't buy one.

Kids, if you want that for Christmas, Santa will need you to keep mommy and daddy's yard nice and clean of leaves so he can see we're working hard to show him we deserve the nice gifts. Make sure you get all of them and he might just show up!
I mean, really, I can see getting him a Wii. If he already has another "newer" console, he's not getting it. If he has any measure of other entertainment that he can use (like a modern portable console like a DS lite) then I'd get him something for that. Little bastard doesn't deserve to have the latest everything. If he works for it then it's understandable.
My black friday shopping consisted of a coat, or else I was going to freeze to death at the beach, then one christmas ornament for my tree, then a nicely priced gift set at a little shop here in Beaufort for a coworker who means quite a bit to me. Tomorrow I might buy some other decorations (we're going to Swansboro! ) but that's beyond the scope of this thread. 11/23/2007 8:10:27 PM

hahaha, I think they talked about something of this nature on The Boondocks...
Quote : | "Black Friday Fisticuffs Erupt Over Box Of Shoes [Fights] from Consumerist by Ben Popken
Shortly after doors opened at midnight, two men got into a fight in a Long Island outlet mall store over a pair of Timberland shoes. According to a witness, an older man, who came with his wife and daughter, grappled with a younger man over the box as 300 people surged to watch. Responding Police threw out the older man and erected barricades to help channel the crowd into a more orderly flow. "There was neither a clear beginning nor end to the line," reports Newsday." |

I think what these parents do is give their kids a better life than they had. We are a pretty spoiled generation but we still want our kids to have a good life so we give them what we think will make them happy, most of us don't give a second thought to what they're actually doing to the child psychologically. 11/23/2007 8:23:21 PM

Awesome vid of people cramming themselves through a single door into a mall while security tries to open the other. The doors only swing outwards so people are being shoved up against them. 11/24/2007 1:35:07 AM

I want to get one, for my whole family though. My wife and I want it too. I can't afford to drop 400+ on a damn bundle, but I'm also not stressing. The Gamestop in town has them on the shelf for $279 new and $259 used. I doubt they magically sold out since last week. 11/24/2007 10:05:50 AM
