SOC342, International Dev. with/TERRY
attendance is not required, you'll have to read a few small books, show up and take an easy test. There are 3 or 4 exams, all multiple choice. Everything comes from the reading. I read each of the books within 2 days of the respective exam (sometimes the night before without finishing) and got no less than a 96 on every test.
TED110 or 116 will require attendance but usually no out of class work. 110 (woodshop and metalshop) will at the most require some reading for an exam. Everything else will be done in class and is very easy. 161 (Imaging Tech. think highschool graphic arts class). That one will require attendance as well but is also very easy with little or no out of class work. I would go with 110 over 116
MEA 130/135... Intro to weather and climate - no attendance required except for the lab.
Astronomy... i think that's py125 - no attendance required, unless you take the lab in which case you'll have to go to like 6 of those.
PSY200 with Craig. Really any psy200 will be easy but with his attendance policy you can show up to the exams and 4/5 other class and still get an A. If you take it pass/fail you probably will only need to take the exams.
ENT301... Bees and Beekeeping.
I'll probably think of more

All 100- and 200-level classes are required to take attendance now.

bio105 with Patterson was pretty easy
If I had to take some random class I'd just pick a 101 class from some field like math 101 or something that any high school graduate could compete. 11/28/2007 10:59:03 AM |

wtf ever. 100 and 200 level classes have been "required" to take attendance since my freshman year in 2003. Whether the professor actually follows this practice or not; and how it effects a students grade is ultimately up to the professor.11/28/2007 11:11:09 AM |

That doesn't mean attendance has to count for anything. Saying whether or not someone is in class doesn't mean they lose a grade for not being there.
The way Craig did it for psy200 you lost like 1/34th of a letter grade per absence, or something like that. What ever the fraction was, it equated to having to attend maybe 5 of the classes aside from the exams to not drop below an A- (assuming you had high grades on the exams, which you should). And I think he even offered a bonus assignment to boost your grade... like a 2-3 pages paper or something.
I took weather and climate way back in sp '01... the policy then was he took attendance by passing a sheet around (it was a huge class, I just had people sign me in). If come time to submit grades you had good attendance and were on the fence between grades you got bumped up. But back then there was no penalty for not having good attendance. Only a reward for having attended class. Of course that may be different now. And I'm not saying anyone is wrong, just how it was.
But don't confuse taking attendance with attendance actually making a significant difference (which is what really matters to this person).

^ tolin takes attendance in his psy 200, but you don't lose points for absences (you "get" to have your grade bumped if you're on the cusp of a better letter grade if you don't miss more than 1 class) 11/28/2007 6:09:37 PM |

eder says he has an attendance policy, but do you really think he goes home every night and looks at the pictures he takes of the class to see who is absent?11/29/2007 12:19:35 AM |

i was be extremely sarcastic when I said NE 400 was easy I should of added a to make it clear
and 419 isn't required by NE majors because I think it's an NE intro class for nonmajors
and 401 isn't easy...it is one of the easier NE classes we take but it is not easy11/29/2007 5:43:45 PM |
