We have the shittiest internet connection here at work. I've been having a bitch of a time setting up my email client here at the office for my personal account, as I cannot access my pop server, despite properly setting up proxy server info (I'm just using Outlook Express).

So, to check my email, I usually leave my machine running at home and remotely log in using VNC via Hamachi...it's the only way I know of to do this, primarily because I don't know everything I need to about the proxy server setup and whatnot or port forwarding, etc.

And often, halfway into a screen refresh, often not even before the initial screen loads, it all locks up...some kind of socket error...and crashes.

Anybody able to shed some quick and dirty light on this one?

I assume you're taking into consideration the upload speed cap that you invariably have on your home cable modem?

Which socket error are you getting? Your answer could also lie in your first sentence, but without further details I can't confirm that for you.

Well, I've noticed that all my Hamachi connections are relayed (obviously through my proxy server) when I'm at work...I'm wondering if this is creating an issue. I usually get a ReadSocket error when logged into a VNC session. Actually, I always get a crash, and mostly because of a ReadSocket error. When pinging the remote server, response times are usually in excess of 80 ms, and I know my default refresh and interrupt rates in TightVNC Viewer are considerably faster. Would that have any bearing?
