lol.
and danny elfman
I remember seeing an interview for corpse bride with Tim Burton saying how he was happily surprised with the voice actors he got for the budget film he had, then it cut to johnny saying how he enjoyed the role etc. And I was thinking 'theres no way in hell you were surprised that johnny depp accepted a role in one of your films' haha.11/30/2007 11:45:02 AM |

This is one of my favorite musicals of all time!! Stephen Sondheim is a genius. I did this musical in highschool in Charlotte at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and it was crazy fun. Sacha Baron Cohen is playing Pirelli!!!

Cept Johnny Depp can't really sing. Atleast he tries. The parts are really difficult though. I would imagine they changed a lot of the music. I was stuck playing oboe, english horn, clarinet, and sax on a 13 foot scaffolding for our production of it. I'm really interested to see where they make the cuts. 12/12/2007 11:48:00 AM |

It probably won't be.
But either way, if you're watching a Tim Burton film for reality, you probably won't see it.

i'm there as soon as this comes out. i'd watch a remake of Gigli if Burton directed it with Depp playing J-Lo's part.
also, Burton's slated to direct Alice in Wonderland. anybody heard anything on that? probably animated? maybe start a new topic with some info if you got it. 12/12/2007 1:26:25 PM |

Just make sure that you're prepared for them to sing the whole time, because they do.

Do any of you guys even know who Steven Sondheim is? He's actually a very interesting character and writes brilliant plays. It seems like none of you are giving any credit to where it's deserved. You're all caught up in who directed it, or who's in it, or why they sing the whole time. IT'S A SONDHEIM MUSICAL. Has anyone even SEEN this play done live before? 12/14/2007 2:20:43 PM |

we can't wait to see this. it's one of my husband's favorite musicals.
disclaimer: he was in theater for over 10 years, so he's allowed to appreciate musicals.
on a different note, i love when they interviewed depp, and he was like "they asked if i could sing. i said, 'i can try'."

I fell asleep twice during Sweeney Todd and the only thing that I really liked about it was the sets and the costumes. The dream sequence was cute, but the rest of it wasn't that impressive.

actually, now that i've had time to let it sit and ferment, No Country was a pretty powerful movie. Coming face to face with the harsh reality of complete, personal failure is a bit unnerving.12/26/2007 1:10:54 AM |

when he's standing or sitting (and not looking malevolent) you see a lot of the awkward johnny depp from scissorhands and sleepy hollow...
but when he's walking around and flailing you can still see the effect that being jack sparrow has had on him... he still walks liquidly 12/26/2007 11:27:28 AM |
