I'm looking at a 1998 19ft skiff. Anybody have any opinions about them good or bad? 12/1/2007 8:27:49 PM |

Jones Bro's are great boats. I have several friends that have them and love them. I have a 17' Polar Flat Bottom skiff. I love it. The one bad thing is that it rides rough than a v hull in rougher water. Other than that, you can take it in very shallow water, and anchor up onto the beaches in the sounds very easily. What kind of motor does it have? Has it been in Salt Water? If you've never bought a boat before and need some things to look for, there are several people on here who have boats that I'm sure would be glad to offer some advice. 12/1/2007 11:55:53 PM |

I was really just wondering quality wise, stress cracks, cleats or other hardware in stupid places, gel coat, etc. It's got an older yamaha 2 stroke. 12/2/2007 12:23:54 AM |

good boats. stress cracks will likely be on any boat that old, depending on how the person that had it drove it. Like someone else said, a skiff is gonna beat the hell out of you in a chop, but its great for gettin around in shallow water and such. Does the motor have tilt/trim? What size motor is it? Check the deck on the very front, a friend has this boat and the wood on his rotted out, however jones brothers stepped up and replaced it all for cost of materials and didnt put wood back in there. looks good. 12/3/2007 10:45:22 AM |

^Thanks for helpful info.
Going to look at it Wed. It's 19' green on green. I want to use it for hunting and scooting around bays in the summer, maybe troll near the beach on a nice day. I was looking at 17' aluminum boats with mud motors and such, but thought this made more sense and I would use it more. 12/3/2007 11:30:56 AM |

The "plugs" on most JB's are mostly one-way valves. 12/31/2007 12:44:11 PM |
