Leo did a fine job with it, but I feel like they could have cast someone better in the role. Cameron Diaz's character seemed unnecessary.

Otherwise I thought that it was great. Daniel Day Lewis was superb.

i consider this the movie that smacked leo in the face and said

HEY KID YOU HAVE TALENT
YOU CAN GET INTO MOVIES WITH REALLY REALLY GOOD ACTORS
TREAT THIS SHIT LIKE A PROFESSION NOT A HOBBY
REMEMBER GILBERT GRAPE? BE LIKE THAT AGAIN!

and then he started being a real actor

^ yeah, I had the same feelings about him in gangs of new york

every time I finish this movie I wish it were two hours longer. They could have drawn it out so much more, just the feel of the movie is amazing. last graveyard scene is so cool too.

i really didn't like this movie. it was way too long, and everyone's fake accents were just terrible. only good part was daniel day lewis.

yea cameron diaz was sort of lame. leo was good but not his best. but daniel day lewis made up for it all.

This movie kicked serious ass. But WTF to whoever said to expand it? If I remember correctly it is already damn long enough for an intermission, at least there was at the theaters.

I hated that movie. It was okay for a bit, but it was long just for the sake of being long. It could've ended 45 minutes earlier and been the same movie

It wasn't my cup o tea, I bought it, watched about an hour or so, turned it off and never looked back...maybe I should take it back out and give it another go.

I feel like Scorsese and Daniel Day Lewis were the only ones involved who tried to make it a good movie. Except for the set and costume design of course.

The 1920s Herbert Asbery book that inspired it is a great read. It's a non-fiction telling of a number of vignettes from early New York. The sequel "All Around Town" is pretty good as well and tells about more of the city than just the five points.
